Not hitting the panic button on the WR position yet..... & I know having players play at different positions is not as easy as flipping a switch.....

But should the WR's struggle after the 1st 3 games going into the Miami game.....

What would ya'll think of guys like Jerrod Johnson, Michael Goodson, or possibly other guys like Tarrant getting more passes thrown their way?

I think using Goodson & Tarrant in a Bush way where they motion out and get matched up on a LB has to be a very positive match-up for A&M...

JJ out at WR for 1 or 2 plays a game can't be all that bad either.....

I'd also say that seeing Holland & McCoy out there a lil more might be good too....

This is just if the passing game doesn't take off....

Aside from the drops what concerned me Saturday night was that there was no seperation on many of the plays.

I don't know if that's scheme, route running, lack of speed, etc...but it is a bit concerning. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt until after the second game.

i say you get the ball to the best players period. i know JJ is supposed to be the next qb to lead this team after mcgee is done, but i can see him making the switch to wr if tannehill is doing as good as has been reported. you have to utilize the talent the best ways possible and if it means JJ switching to wr if tannehill is playing as good or better at qb, that would have to be done. if the passing game does not take form in the next 2 games, some changes will have to be done. it will be extremely difficult to go though our schedule with only a 1 dimensional offense.

Or even Tannehill switching to WR... either or.....

Hold the phone....lets not start talk already of switching QBs to WRs. If you want to make an effort to mix more pass plays in to RBs, or even make the argument of lining Joey & 'Tellus up in the slot more, then okay. But I think the talk of moving a QB to WR (especially after we just did that with one of our QBs this spring) is getting way ahead of ourselves.

Were not saying do it now... just saying that if in the easiest part of the schedule nothing amounts from them, what would folks recommend... Not that what we have to say counts/matters... but just for convo purposes....

Yeah, I offered some less drastic alternatives.

:) Yeah... personally I would like to see Goodson or Tarrant sent in motion....

I like the idea of getting Goodson the ball in open field..... :gig:

are you guys serious? you think switching a qb to wr is going to help? having someone play wr that has probably never played wr?

uh.....

that's a good point also. so far at least. hopefully after a couple of games, our qb and wrs will get their timing down and great things will happen.

If our WRs aren't performing well, we have two excellent TEs. Also, after seeing what Goodson can do when lined up as a wideout, I'm not opposed to using him in that way a little more. Then you have J-Train and Chris Alexander, who have pretty decent hands for big men.

Besides, we have the best running game in the nation. I don't really care how much we pass the ball.

Was waiting for that...

But I agree with the rest of your post also....

What I'd like to see is A&M lined up in T formation with Goodson & Lane side by side behind McGee (who would be under center)... have Mike motion out, Play Action to Lane (McGee is really good at Play Action), & then have Mike run a simple route that gets him open...

Of course have this opened up via actually handing it off to Lane a couple of time before we run this... but ya'll get the picture...

well, i just got thru watching the game on all access and i will officially retract my statement about JJ switching to wr. that guy is a freak! i was not impressed with the play of our wr's though. they dropped a lot of catchable passes. i was also not impressed with the passing plays.... same old crap of short outs. i remember a couple plays where mcgee threw downfield, but the passes were dropped or over thrown. can we not run any post routes or routes that are in the middle of the field?

other observations - our oline did not play well at all, which has been pointed out numerous times. i think the defensive from 6 played pretty good, but were burned numerous times on draws and screen plays. dont know what to make of that.... also, there were lots of plays were msu's offensive line would drop to the ground and the d-line would just trip right over them....

i think a lot of these things are easily correctable, but they do have a lot to work on. most teams make their biggest improvements btwn weeks 1 and 2 so i look forward to seeing them play on saturday.
