Peterson broke the school's vertical jump record at Night of Champions with a jump of 42". I don't know if anyone was watching the Mizzu game on Saturday or not, but they have a kid on their team that plays WR that has a 46" vertical. Thats absolutely freaking amazing!!! Please don't put Peterson on that kid when we play them.

Vertical of a guy that is 4-6" shorter than another guy isn't necessarily better :wow:

it is irrelevant how high JP can jump if he is 6 yards away from the receiver when they catch the ball every time.

I would rather have a guy who is 2-3" taller than Peterson & who has a little more natural ability to be able to break on the ball.

I'm going to say it. Aggie fans love Peterson because he's a smalltown white kid that plays a position that is predominantly played by african american players at this level. I wish it wasn't true but you all know that it is. The old timers still rule here

well they are blind to the suck that was his game last week, that's for sure.

Exactly... he's the class of '10 Jaxson Appel

at least Jaxson was laying the wood to fools and doing one HELL of a job spying A.P. and other running backs.
i haven't seen JP knocking the crap outta too many people. hell, he's usually not even near the WRs or RBs when they catch the dam ball. :( speaking from this season only of course.

I resent the last three posts. Y'all may think his play sucks but obviously what Coach Darnell and you see are two different things. I think I'll put my faith in the coach instead of a couple of people out looking for Aggies wearing white robes and hoods.

I'm not commenting on Darnell playing him. It's the blind faith that some fans seem to have in him. The comments last year about the "players with the long hair" should send up flags that we haven't progressed. I was lucky enough to be a minority but I don't outwardly express it very physically. I was able to see both sides to this crap.

I can't believe the Peterson sucks comments from Game 1. What did he do that was horrible defensively? Every Montana State catch wasn't on him... He had a great play to break up a touchdown pass. He kept everything in front of him and never got burned.... Yes, they caught 6 yard outs, but they caught 6 yard outs on everybody all night -- maybe it's the scheme and not the player :stupid:

I blame most of the results on the scheme but his best moments (other than the mizzou play) were against baylor and army :bored:

maybe Darnell's comments about how kay and keith have not played consistently enough to earn starting spots is 1 reason why JP is in the lineup....maybe not though.

maybe so, but they were sure throwing to his side more, or it seemed that way. i'd like to see him make some breaks on the ball instead of being 6 yards from the receiver.
that great play to "break up" a TD was more a botch by the qb from what i saw. i could be wrong though.
i'm not saying everyone else played well in the secondary either.

This has been discussed on multiple threads. For some reason, the coaches put more weight in technique than in natural ability. Obviously, technique gives up 8 yard passes on 3rd on 6. Natural ability allows one to play within the same hemisphere of the WR, at least allowing a chance to break up a pass play that isn't a fade route.
You can say its the scheme, but maybe the coaches scheme the way they do to make up for the lack of natural ability on the field.
As far as SA's race comment goes, I think that works both ways. You can say that people support Peterson because he is a white guy playing a position that is predominantly played by blacks, but I will say, that a white RB or a white DB automatically gets LESS respect because of the color of his skin, regardless of his skill level. Sam McGuffie is a perfect example of this. He showed two years ago that he was one of the best RBs in the nation & still doesn't get the credit he deserves. Why? Because he is white! Brandon Leone was the same way coming out of high school. Not as talented as McGuffie, but didn't get the respect that he deserved.

it might be the scheme Vly. i said i hope he doesn't play like that after the 1st game. i'll wait and see, but i'm just saying if he continues to play like that, i think he should not start.
but i'm no coach, so....
