View Full Version : Media Day

Fran sounds just as hard-headed as he has always been. I've heard all the talk during the pre-season about changing some things up, & then when asked about it today, he goes back to his same all stuff.
Darnell got pretty much called out by the media & in return, he gave Montana St. a lot of credit. Without seeing the game in person, I'm kind of blind on this, but there is no way those guys can be THAT good. He made their QB sound like Peyton Manning. He also said that Kay & 'Keith are the best guys at breaking on the ball. If the problem that you are having is DBs breaking on the ball, then why not give the guys who are the best at that more plays? Darnell just added to be too hard-headed.
Still listening, so I'll continue to add more thoughts.

Fran will never do anything different in those media days unless it's a big win..... Just saying....

Goodson said that he is ready to start practicing kick & punt returns in an effort to get the ball in his hands more. Whoop!!! I really hope that works out! :flag:

Agreed.... There were others mentioned earlier that could return kicks... I'd like to see them get a shot at returning punts also....

I don't understand why we have such a hard time finding a punt returner.

The replay on the big screen sure made it look like Peterson simply misjudged the ball, but Brown sure was close to him.
He should have backed the hell away from it.

AMEN. Ive been on the Arkeith Brown bandwagon since he first played a down here. He makes plays, makes tackles, and actually gets to the ball to break up plays.

JP had already committed to getting to the ball when Brown almost ran into him. Sorry, that one wasn't JP's fault.

Coach Fran said in the press conference that marquis and arkeith just hadn't been consistent enough in practice to earn the starting jobs. however, he did say that here lately, they have become more consistent and the coaches are starting to believe they can be consistent and play well over a long period of time. it sounds like they are close to earning a starting spot. not sure though.
they also said that 1 game doesn't earn a starting spot. so it sounds like if JP doesn't botch up practice, he will be starting again on Saturday.

Great pic! If you have to go to your knees to catch a punt and you aren't Gale Sayers or Deion Sanders then just run away. Stay away from the ball.

Was gonna say the same thing.....
Both players were in the wrong for being anywhere near the ball...

he's on his knees after the bounce...I'm pretty sure that ball has already hit the ground...

Then the original comment of being in his way is incorrect & if it's on the bounce then again there is no reason to be in the way of the ball....
All coaches tell their players to get away from the ball once it starts bouncing around...

Agreed. He misjudged the ball and it landed short of him. He just managed to get his fingertips on it and that pic had to have been taken after the bounce.
Look at the pic Curly took just before it in the series and see where the line on the field is just before and after he touched the ball. It landed short and JP pushed it away from himself. Also you can see PB is well out of the way.
