CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Kirby Freeman is set to be the starting quarterback for Miami (http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/teams/page/MIA) in its season opener Tuesday, beating former first-stringer Kyle Wright in the Hurricanes' most-scrutinized training camp competition.

I hope the LB's are ready... Freeman is a wanna be McGee.... in the sense he is not afraid to run the ball, but the thing is.. the kid can move....

Kid has really good running skills & could pose a dual threat for both OU & A&M.....

The good thing is they have to play ou before us. They wont be able to keep very much hidden if they want to upset ou in norman.

I was thinking that this was a bad thing. They'll be used to playing a tough team, and this will be our first big game.

It's not like our team isn't battle tested.....

Nope... Saturday at 12 against Marshall... which isn't a push over either.....

Marshall, OU & A&M is a tough way to start the season for Miami....

My buddy Rios is actually worried about Marshall...

Not so much stoping them, but moving the ball on them... He's increadibly worried about the Miami offense.....

I agree. Beside if they go into Norman and get their butts handed to them, confidence could be a factor along with physical health. On the other hand they could win and be riding a high.

Also... an early loss to Marshal followed by a loss to OU could kill em....

Marshall that good this year?

Their Defense is.... but their Offense is suspect.... but Miami is known for blowing games they should win & winning games they shouldn't...

Case in point... they lost to Clemson recently but beat Va Tech....

I would say this.... Marshall is good enough that if you look past em.... they could pull one out on you....

Older Ags will remember Kirby's brother very well.

Kirby's brother was twice the pure athlete than he is but Kirby benefitted from having an older brother go through everything. Both of them were rediculous in track. Kirby was a late bloomer though. I watched him play as a sophomore at Bwood and he was getting killed. As a senior though he was sick. Their game against Stephenville was great that year. It is good to see him get his chance though.

Uh-hmmm.....I think I said last week that Freeman would win that spot....those boys are just too athletic to keep on the bench.

Freeman is a dual-threat and the future of their offense, while Wright has been disappointing in his 2 seasons as a starting QB. New coach = fresh start.

Well.. here's to it taking 5 to 6 games before he gets his feet under him...:gig:

It is going to be interesting to see how Miami starts the season. Everything there is new this year (coaches, schemes, QB, etc.). Could be either a really good year, or one where they struggle to adapt to a new system.
