name your top 10 ncaa qb's in the nation in order. Bucky on the radio this morning was trying to say that McCoy was at least the second best qb in the nation this year... it was funny because his partner wasn't even supporting him.

see to me that doesn't make White a good qb... it makes him an amazing athlete but a qb should be able to throw when they take away the run. I don't know that he's able to do that and it will be West Virginia's downfall this season... just my opinion.

I don't think McGee should be up there. If there was a winner category or best QB on a heavy rushing team, then yeah he'd be #1.

I don't know WHAT you guys see in Matthew Stafford...
52.7 Completion Pct. (not that good)
1729 passing yards (decent for his playing)
7 passing TDs (weak)
13 INTs (BAD)
6.83 yrds per attempt
I know he's young, but he threw 3 ints against South Carolina, 3 ints against Mississippi St, and 3 ints against Kentucky. He's going to lose some games for Georgia next season. So before he makes MY top 10 list he needs to prove a lot more. Top 10 is a tough list.

I guess having more passing yards than any QB in Aggie History isn't enough for you. What an ignorant statement.
I'm suprised at how many people look at athletic QB's who have the ability to run, and completely discount them because they have MORE skills than typical QBs.

In completing 194 of his 313 pass attempts, he set a school record for completion percentage (62 percent). He was just one of four quarterbacks in the nation to throw for 2,000 yards (2,295) and rush for 500 yards (666), and just the second to do so in A&M history (McNeal, 2004). He threw a measly two interceptions (fewest in the nation by a starter) in those 313 attempts, an interception percentage of just 0.64 -- also best in NCAA Division I-A. In fact, only one other quarterback in the country had an interception percentage below 1.00 (Houston's Kevin Kolb, 0.93).

That statement might be a little myopic (short sighted)...
That may work for a "flash in the pan" season in College, but in the long run (NFL) it won't work...or at least really hasn't happened yet...and DEFINITELY can't compare to the success of traditional drop back passers...
more skills/personal stats doesn't necessarily equate to championships...which I see as the true measuring stick of a good QB/leader of an offense.
you look at most "running QBs" who stick around in the NFL & they eventually "mature" into a drop back passing QB.
McNair
McNabb
VICK is not there...(probably never will have the chance)
Steve Young is the only one (off the top of my head) who really successfully put the two together...but it was always pass first.
the difficult decision most "running QBs" have is that because they are so talented in their running ability, they choose to run after their first (or maybe second) options are open...and many times that is the wrong decision.
You see McNabb NOW scrambling using his legs to find the open passer, rather than try to get 5-6 yards rushing...

Randall Cunningham and Warren Moon immediately come to mind.
As far as saying that liking the dual-threat QBs is short-sighted, I think the NFL is short-sighted. That's why Warren Moon had to play QB in the CFL for years before anyone gave him a chance. That's why players like Reggie McNeal and Antwan Randel-El have to play out of position. After wasting his rookie season as a RB for the Jets, Brad Smith finally got a chance to play QB. The result? He played better than any other QB in the game (both teams).
