Just think what Griffey could have done if he would have stayed healthy during all those seasons. I believe we would be talking about him being the next to break the record followed by A-Rod. Now we are left with A-Rod being our hope to destroy bond's record.

Dustin and I discussed this last night. Barring injury, A Rod will have no problem getting to 800. He only has to average 30 hrs over the next 10 years to get there. That should be EASY.

if arod played another 10 years he would have to hit 30 a year. He will hit 30 (or close to it) by the all star break of the next 5 seasons atleast. The record will be broken in 5 years.

i dont see arod or anyone else ever averaging 60 homers/season for 5 straight years. ruth, mcgwire, marris, sosa and bonds are the only players to ever hit 60 or more in 1 season. sosa did it, what 3 times? the others only did it once. i can see that he will average 50+ homers per season for 5 straight seasons, but not 60.
