Well finally someone is trying to do something about tech's classless fans, I doubt it will do any good though:

Myers took displeasure in this and the overall scale of sportsmanship across the country and put together a committee at Tech to enhance school spirit and promote healthy sportsmanship.
"Maybe 5 percent of our fans do things that are not typical of Texas Tech,"
 (try 95 percent)
he said Thursday after a luncheon to kick off the "Raider Power Spirit and Sportsmanship" campaign.
"I think we can be a little more conscious about how we treat our visitors coming in and show respect for the other team but don't lose that edge and support for our own team. ... Let me make it clear, our fans are great. We've got good fans. We're not talking about toning anything down. We're just talking about having a little more control in what we say and what we do."
"We don't want to lose the atmosphere that we have at our athletic events," Myers said. "... We want the Aggies and the Longhorns and all the rest to dread coming here to play. ... We're not complaining about our fans. We've got great fans and great support. We're not trying to shame our fans into doing something or to stop doing something. We want to appeal to our fans to just do it with class. (We want) to eliminate using profanities at the opposing team, throwing objects on the basketball court or football field, even treating officials with respect, that's going to be the toughest, even for me."
A committee of Tech staff - Jennifer Brashear, Blayne Beal, Amy McBride, Chris Cook and Sandy Collins - was formed five or six months ago and developed a four-word definition of Raider Power: Honor. Respect. Pride. Tradition.
raider power!
Mayor David Miller said Lubbock already has what it takes to step up to a higher level of excellence in spirit and sportsmanship. Miller has two children who graduated from Texas A&M, and he made reference to the swaying that Aggie fans do during sporting events. "The reason that is so impressive and drives so much spirit is because they're doing it in unison, they're doing it together," Miller said. "... I understand the Raider Power concept. It's not just to improve our spirit, it's not just to improve our sportsmanship. It's to unite this fan base, this community of West Texas and beyond in one thing. It's knowing that unity does produce strength."
Oh, the irony of it all the Mayor of lubbutt is an Aggie. Apparently, tech fans are ticked off because he told them at the press conference for this thing that they should be more like us.
No way this cleans up tech fans they're too far gone. t.u. started a similar campaign last year to try and control their unruly fans. Thank God, we don't have to do anything like this. :flag: We Ags have class!
