trade Dan Wheeler to Rays for 3B Ty Wigginton.

This shows ensberg is as good as gone (most likely after the season) and loretta or lamb will most likely be dealt. I think the astros will comtrol Ty's rights through arbitration for a couple years. Over all i think its a good deal for both teams...Rays find bullpen help and the Astros havea guy that can play third for the next 5 years or more

They need to trade a few more players before the deadline.

more fall out from the tade. I was wrong that the astros would probably wait till after the season to cut ties with ensberg, but it happened today. I believe he has some many days to accept the assignment or he becomes a free agent (a la Preston Wilson last year)

I was at the Astros game today. Wigginton played well. So far it looks like a good trade.

That Jennings trade sure looks bad in hindsight. I'd rather have that "flash in the pan" Willy T than a guy who isn't going to last the season. :gig:

The Cardinals are sure enjoying Russ Springer by the way. I guess he isn't the loser you thought he was. 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in his last 10 appearances. That includes 10.2 IP, 5 H, 4 BB and 10 SO. His overall numbers are pretty good too. Much better than Qualls or Wheeler. Where is Wheeler?

Speaking of Qualls. He isn't worth much right now, if anything. The Astros are done for the year. They do not have the talent to make any sort of run. This isn't the same flash in the pan team it was in the last couple seasons.

If I were the Astros I would let some of my young guys play EVERYDAY. They got some farm hands who are going to need to carry this team. Too bad Pence is hurt. Bring up my old classmate Troy Patton. Just don't let him pitch to Pujols. If Burke is the guy some Stros fans think he is, then for pete's sake let him play a position you think he'd be good at.

Brad Ausmus? Is he going to retire soon? Just wondering. In anycase, the fans deserve the Astros to be better than this.

PS: We'll trade Juan Encarnacion for Mark Lorretta. Take Juan's salary. Deal?

I just wanted to add to my previous post. I forgot to mention that the Cardinals are bad too. So any arguements about how the Astros are not worse than the Cardinals I will probably agree with. Just don't talk trash on Reyes

The astros better start thinking about life post-Biggio. They are losing a strong leader and a great ball player. They need to start restocking the lineup because as of right now they have a long way to go. Although not as far as the Rangers.

Conan if Willy T was here we would not have Hunter to man Centerfield and I will take Pence any day over Willy T (yes and I still stand by my words i do not think Willy will be an everyday starter three years from now)

Ty for Wheeler is a good trade. Glad it happened. The Padres are looking hard at Lamb as well.

At least Ensberg got designated for assignment so I won't have to hear about "Next year"
