Big 10(11) + 1???

College Football Live was talking about how the Big 10 (11) plans on going after another team...

Schools mentioned were..

Iowa State
Colorado
Pittsburgh
Rutgers
Syracuse
Notre Dame (they said doubtful & so have we before)

Thoughts????

Notre Dame is clearly the #1 choice but the Domers don't want to join.
Syracuse has a great athletic tradition, so they might be the #2 choice.

Iowa State is the logical choice (besides Notre Dame) logistically -- since they're all north-centrally located and it would introduce the Iowa St vs Iowa game as a rivalry conference game.

Iowa State has always been the kind of "extra" in the Big 12 that's farther than all the rest.

Then bring back Arkansas or steal LSU.... Put them in the North...

That way the South stays with OU, A&M & tu... while the North has NU, MU & Arkansas/LSU...

LSU would make perfect sense for the Big XII.... Especially considering that they are right next door..

It's funny that Texas would joing the Big 10. I could see the SEC west but not the Big 10.

If we needed another school how about Colorado St. or Arizona St.?

Colorado State wouldn't be a bad pick-up -- it would help make Colorado look like they belong in the Big XII. New Mexico or a school like that would be more likely to be picked up (geographically)

I thought Arizona St might be a little too far away to be considered. Who would the Big 12 take from New Mexico?

Honestly, I think Utah and Arkansas would be the frontrunners to join the Big 12, with TCU, BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico as long shots.

Because they haven't been able to compete in the SEC on a consistent basis. If Mizzou or ISU left for the Big 10, Arkansas would join the Big 12 North. They would instantly become Nebraska's #1 rival for the North every year. Also, by being in the Big 12, Arkansas will start being able to recruit well in Texas again. For them, the benefits are huge.

If they are as good as they think they are... wouldn't they believe that they would be in the CHampionship game shortly after joining which in turn would earn them more $$$$$...

Hell some of the richest schools in the country are in the Big XII....

Not to mention that aside from the Pac-10 & Florida last year.... the Big XII has been the pipeline to the National Title game & to Double BCS bids....

If there is any conference who can say the same... please let me know....

Also the SEC has had some rough years until this last one in the Bowls....

I think the Big XII would fit nicely for any major program... especially if they were to sit in on the Big XII north.... That would help even things out....

CSU would be cool, but I would see them being no better than KU... if anything KU might take a step up in the pecking order in the North....The SOuth would still dominate either way with CSU...

If LSU or Arkie joined the North.... things would be so much more balanced & the Big XII would look like the Best Conference....

Adding another school is the right move for the big 10. This will allow them to divide into two conferences and have a championship game like us and the SEC.
