An army sergeant is assigned a new post managing a group of men in a remote mountain village in the Middle East. On arriving at the camp he takes in the surroundings, greets the men he’s going to be leading and then asks why there is a donkey in the small post. Sheepishly, one of the privates says “we’ve been up here for a while now and sometimes we get lonely and use the donkey so we can take care of those needs.”
The sergeant blushes and carries on with his business. After a few weeks the sergeant is feeling lonely too and asks one of the privates to bring the donkey to his tent. After several minutes in the tent with the donkey, the sergeant walks out to hand the reins back to the private and says, “I bet that donkey’s never had anything like that before.”
The private agrees and informs the sergeant that when he said they use the donkey to take care of their needs he meant that they ride it into town to find a woman.
Moral of the story: Always ask follow-up questions.
