Who do you think will be a buyer and who do you think will be a seller by the upcoming trade deadline? I think a lot of teams will be neither, so here's my list:

buyers: Philadelphia (pitching), Arizona (hitting), San Diego (hitting), Colorado (pitching)

sellers: Cincinnati, Houston

All the other teams I don't think are likely to make a big move. A lot of teams are either in good shape and I think they will hold, but there are also a lot of bad teams that just don't have anything to give (youth or established).

I'd like to see what you guys think!

The SF Giants (my favorite team) are in a new predicament. Normally, they're close to making a run for the NL West, but this year, they just seem too far out. I wouldn't be surprised if they move somebody for future prospects, but not sure what Sabean will do -- or who we're willing to give up.

wouldn't the Rangers be in the cellars category as well?

I can see them dangling Gagne out there. I'd love to see a Gagne/Lidge deal in the works...

The Astros will be sellers, but I don't look for them to make any blockbuster moves. Lidge is safe now IMO. He is looking very solid lately. I think they might get rid of Qualls and Wheeler and also Loretta, Ensberg, or Lamb. I'd be okay with any of these guys leaving.

I think Lidge is safe...I think he is one more yer arbitration eligible so he will not cost a ton next year. I think we may hold on to Lamb also. The otherfs you mentioned are probabaly being shopped and will be dealt. Ensberg however hows no real value so don't surprised if he is not dealt either and we cut ties with him after the season by not tendering a contract

Pinetar, I think you are right about Ensberg. I kind of hope that they are able to get rid of him and get a prospect or two. He is just not the same player that he was a few years ago and it is time to go another direction. I'd even be happy if they kept Loretta for a few more years. He has been a nice pickup.

Ensberg is ok as long as you have a strong batting order. Otherwise you can't afford his dead weight.

Ensberg is not good, and never was good consistantly. I remember a year or 2 ago he hit like 10 HRs in the first 3 weeks or something stupid like that. Then he was terrible for the season. He is also very unimpressive at 3rd.

If the Astros want to deal Lorretta then they are going to be missing out. During the offseason he is the guy I wanted at 2nd for the Cardinals and now we got Adam Kennedy. Good grief.

I always liked Lidge. He is good. I'd take him in a New York minute.

If Berkman has a no-trade clause then he isn't leaving. Fat Elvis will not be leaving the building anytime soon.

Sell Burke. If you get anything for him, you win.

You could probably get something good for Lamb, and to be honest probably something better than what he is worth. I still think he's a good player. Not great at 3rd.

I think the Astros only have Lorretta to a one year deal (not sure) so it would be best to trade him and not get anyhting when he walks

Good point. I didn't know that. Do you think they have any intention on re-signing him? Or do you think they are going to replace him with Burke or something at 2nd? Can Lorretta field a good SS or 3rd base?
