Wow..... I don't care who the hell you are... but you don't brag about something like that...
What an idiot.....Maybe if I was 13 or 14 years old & I beat down a 16 year old kid who was picking on me, I'd say something like that.....
But a Pro Football player.... Geez....

That wasn't Loftin... the idiot said that A&M's win over #1 OU happened Reggie's Junior year... Loftin knows better...
And what's funny is Reggie sounded like he didn't care about anything the idiot was saying...

I had one of my buddies call me today talking about the interview. I wasn't able to hear it. So I went to their website, & sure enough, they had it on there. That is where the link came from.

I agree with Reggie that Fran should have let him run the same type of offense that he ran his junior year during his senior season. Fran absolutely ruined McNeal. I would take Reggie over McGee anyday considering the amount of talent he has in comparison. I believe McGee is a good QB but reggie had playmaking abilitys that fran never utilized. Frans turnin into R.C. Slocum "conservative"..
Dustin00whoop
06-22-2007, 08:35 PM
Reggie could've ran that offense better than anyone. He just had a piss poor attitude & instead of making an effort, he decided to bitch, moan, & pout about it. Loftin wants to talk about Antoine Wright hurting A&M by what he was saying.....Reggie McNeal going on Houston radio being a bitter POS does more to hurt aTm than anything Antoine has ever said.
Pumchavas28
06-22-2007, 08:35 PM
Fran's offenses in the past have always been explosive... He tried that & while it put up pretty stats.... It did't produce wins... the talent wasn't around Reggie & Fran had to use a system that fit what he had....
The Offense will be opening up more & more....

As I remember it, the defense was more of the problem that year than the offense. So don't blame Fran completely for Reggie's failure. The defense was so bad that season it wouldn't have mattered what offense we were running.

BTW it's not cool to criticize a legend. He's only our most successful coach of all time, show some respect. R.C. wasn't doing the playcalling anyways.

Reggie didn't want to run the Meyer spread offense and he went about it half ass and cried about it. I don't care what offense the coach installs, if he says run it then you run it. Leak made it happen at UF and he wasn't the perfect QB for the same offense but he sucked it up, became a leader and won a championship. I'll take McGee over reggie anyday of the week and I bet I beat you with McGee every time. Who cares if someone runs a little faster. McGee stills runs a 4.4 and is overall the better QB.

Totally taken out of context. Obviously, he was talking about hitting a 16 year old sheep, and poor Reggie just did not realize that when or if they are 16 years old, they are no longer called a "kid" but rather a sheep. The irony Reggie was attempting to make is that a "kid" (sheep) can't call the police anyway as it knows even less English than Reggie does. You guys just need to give it up, this is ridiculus.... ;)

at the same time though reggie was never recruited by fran.... something tells me had he been he never would have been an aggie.
and i do think fran ruined reggie somewhat though.... the day reggie did what he did against OU the offense should have never changed when fran came in (even though it was a sumlin/rc coached game). And I still hate fran for letting sumlin go. Huge mistake there imo. Do co-offsnsive coordinators if he had to. I really think reggie would have flourished in a sumlin coached offense.

What dirty laundry? He did say that he had disagreements with Fran's coaching decisions as a senior, but he left it at that. He said "I love my school" and said that he didn't regret going here, and even said that there was no "bad blood."

I'm listening to it now, so I haven't got the part where he talks about the incident with the 16 yr old (I assume he talks about the way they were saying earlier in the thread)
what do you have to say about him saying if he beat up a 16 yr old he wouldn't be able to call the cops or whatever

What did Sumlin do that was so fabulous?
He had 1 good game and used a QB no one prepared for. Please show me how he improved are offense. Show me how he improved OU's offense because he is co-OC?
Reggie couldn't flourish anywhere because of attitude. Period
On playing ability he lacked touch on passes, he overthrew the deep consistantly. He was a great athlete playing QB nothing more. A&M was the only team recruiting him at QB, there is a reason.

obvious that this "interviewer" is not exactly pro-A&M & is trying to start shixt
Reggie is too dumb to make it better...doesn't exactly take the high road.

this is unbearable...I'm an Aggie fan & I'm growing tired of the "banter" between this "interviewer" trying to be Reggie's "boy"...it's stupidity all around.
EDIT: Just realized the other "interviewer" is Andre Ware. That explains it all.

you have to love how reggie was tricked into bad-mouthing (unintentionally) the backup qb of his current team...
I guess old habits die hard.

06-23-2007, 02:06 PM
If Reggie was of upstanding character...why would Chris Henry even have to tell him "Don't go the way I go"??? I don't see anyone having to tell Jerry Rice or Marvin Harrison or even Vince f'ing Young that...
If I were going to punch a 16 year old kid...there would be no way he could call the cops...wow, that's pretty intelligent!!!
His alibi "We were doing our own thing". Brilliant.
whitelightnin_23
06-23-2007, 02:09 PM
sure loftin...he didn't exactly SAY anything, but unless you're an idiot...you can interpret a lot from tone & the "uhhhh, chuckle, chuckle" non-intelligible "phrases"...
and you gotta love how he's still saying he's more talented than VY. priceless.
another point...the call screener obviously either had an agenda or was asleep...all are on the same point (conservative play calling, victim of the system, bla, bla, bla)
this is nothing but a fran-bashing interview...nothing more...
well, that & an opportunity for Reggie to clear the air that if he were involved he would have REALLY beat up the 16 year old.

we'll just say "the doctor's didn't clear me to play the game"
could you have played "yeah"
were you urged not to play "yeah"
"I wanted to play, but it wasn't my call"
so, it's a conspiracy w/ the doctor's involved now? NICE!

Funny thing is the Meyer offense is suppose to be reggies or Qb like reggie dream offense. Who wouldn't want to play in a offense that spread people out and uses balance to attack the defense. It uses your running skills and your passing skills.

I didn't think there was any dirty laundry aired and I have equal disdain for both Reggie and Fran.
Reggie quit on "his" team and yes being the QB it should have been his team.
Fran told his players at Alabama to hold the line and not transfer out when they went on probation, then he left and didn't have the guts to meet with them before he left.
BUT the one thing I learned from the interview is there is someone on the face of the earth that sounds less intelligent than Andre Ware....Reggie...Reggie...Reggie

I hope none of you actually believe this story. For the few of you that actually know someone who played on that team with Reggie, you know what really happened. For those of you that don't, just know that Reggie told Fran that he was not going to play b/c he didn't want to risk injury that would hurt his NFL chances.

I don't disagree on the Reggie points for the most parts.
The Sumlin piece though is a different matter. He's passing game cooridnator for one of the top programs in College Football. The fact that his offense produces any passing at all given their QB turnover the last two years is amazing that's proof enough for me.
Well that and they turned Jason White into a great college qb while wearing 900lbs in knee braces.
I would be interested to see how their passing rankings have varied over the years.
I don't think that the OU gameplan would have worked for an entire season as it relied entirely on the deep play action pass. But, it was the perfect way to attack OU that day or any day actually given their style of defense.

Wasn't it Sumlin that was also behind the offensive numbers of the 1 point loss at Kyle when we scored like 47 points or something like that? I think that was Dustin Long that was QB, but that does not take anything away from Sumlin. I don't think you can blame that loss on the offense......although, the kicker may be suspect.
