The rep system has fallen away from what is was intended for anyways. With all the rep whoring going on, a person who has a lot of rep isn't neccessarily more reputable than a person with less. Don't be surprised if it eventually goes away or gets reset with new rules.:laugh: :laugh:

Hey, I've earned most of my rep. Sure, I've been part of a rep orgy here and there, but I definitely don't go asking for it. And unlike most, the majority of my rep is not from hottie threads! Although, had Vly let my tribute to the camel toe stay up for a while, I would have made rep history. :)

i just hope with his quickness on deleting posts that he is able to secure permission to do this fairly quickly. you would think since it is something he is interested in it should happen fast. if he only puts half as much passion into making this happen as he does in deleting posts on here then it should be done in no time. we'll see though. the clock is still running.

I, too, have earned damn near all of my rep points. Hell, the majority of them have come from 12th & getting rep from him is like getting a penny from a....well, lets just say its really hard to do. The rep system, while sometimes abused, generally accomplishs what it was set out to do. More people would get rep for good posts if power happy mods weren't deleting such great posts.

It's funny. You guys piss and moan about how posts are being deleted all the time. I just checked, and the only posts that were deleted by mods in the past 3 months were the trash talking by shaft and then some in the thread where the OSU folks got their panties in a wad over the descriptions of the uniforms. :laugh:

I'm guessing there are more deleted posts than edited ones. It's a lot easier click and delete a post than edit it.

People get all high and mighty when someone changes or deletes their post. But there are rules for the board that everyone has to follow. You don't see Vly or Jag or any other mod playing by a different set of rules than everyone else. You may not like it when the rules are enforced, but without the mods, this place would turn into a snakepit the first time someone stepped over the line or when the trolls realize that anything goes. People don't seem to mind calling others out when they step over the line, but as soon as they do it, they are instantly self-rightous.

personally i couldn't care less if posts get edited or deleted by the mods. the only reason i say anything about it is because as soon as BigJohn showed up around here he went on a mad spree of deleting posts and i thought it was funny as hell. i thought he was on a crusade to save the board by himself and laughed at each post as it disappeared.

he's a mod though, i reckon, and can do whatever hell he wants. it's all subjective anyhow.

basically, on the bottom left of ever post is a group of 2-5 icons. Depending on user levels or permissions you can see more than others. Everybody can see the "rep" icon. It looks like this http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/images/buttons/reputation.gif.

On any post anywhere on the site, if you particularly agree, or disagree with that post, you can click it and give them positive or negative rep. This is intended to be a "gauge" at how reputable posters are. In terms of our site, it seems it's an indication of how long you've been here and how many friends you've made along the way. :)
