If you could go back in time to 9/10 with all the knowledge you have now and notify the authorities about the events of 9/11, would you?

This is a tough question for me because of all the stuff that's happened since then. I know tens of thousands lost their lives, but at the same time, the tragedy unified the nation. It put us all in support of one single cause... It led to the "war on terror" and eventual capture and execution of Sadaam Hussein. It may eventually lead to Osama's capture as well...

Without it, there's no guarantee this would've happened.

So the question, given the power, would you change what has happened?

Sure I would, but unfortunately, something of that magnitude would still have happened to the US in some other capacity.

Yeah, but if you contacted the authorities and they stopped it, they would have found out who was behind it and still gone after them.

I would contact the authorities and also inform them of who was behind it so they could nab him before he goes into hiding.

I don't believe in time travel. Let history play itself out for better or for worse.

the sad thing is that it took something like that tragedy for people to realize what a great nation we live in and to unify and support the U.S.A. people should have realized what a privilege it was to live in the US and support it like they do now BEFORE something like that day's events happened.

so the question is asking us if we would sacrifice all those lives for the greater good?

Essentially, yes, that's the root of the question. Is human sacrifice necessary for the common good (ie, the value of a human life). I didn't know a better way to word it, so I used 9/11 as an example. It has pros and cons for each outcome.

I think if we would have stopped 9/11, they would have planned something else until they succeeded and we eventually work up to the threat. Look at the other failed/semi-failed attempts prior to 9/11.

This is a decision I hope I never have to make on any level....

Yes but I'm glad I was apart of the pain we brought them SOB's. I never forget the anger I had seeing what happened on TV that day. Then I got a phone call 3 days later saying Troy are you ready to go get some Mother Fu*k*ng payback Marine. I said you better Fu*k*ng beleive it. I then carried that anger with me and made everyone of them bastards I came across wish they never messed with us. One of the greatest feeling I have had was when we landed in Afgan and got our orders and gear. As we were getting ready to go fight the CO came on the loud speaker and said Get Some Marines Make Everyone Of Them Bastards Remember Who Were Are For The Lives That Were Lost On 9/11.

I'd try to stop it and take my chances with what the future holds.

On top of more than 2,000 Americans dying, our economy went into a serious recession that took big tax cuts and several years to fix.

I would definitely attempt to save all those lives. Especially since our cheese-sick pres can't win the war and capture one guy (osama). What happen to kicking ass and taking names?
