What do you think? Should I walk the stage for my graduation in August or not?
I don't really want to. I hate ceremonies and I don't want people to drive four hours just to watch me in a ceremony that they hate as well.

the answer to your question is in my question for you
Do you think 15 years from now you will regret in any way of not walking?

Theres probably a gas station with a 12 pack calling your name just a mile or so away from where you live

You got to walk it's your time in the sun. I hate people that leave early too, it's disrespectful.

Dude, you should walk. Give your parent the joy of seeing their son walk across the stage as a college graduate & receive his degree. Buy them a pic of it, so they can put on their desk & show off to all their friends, etc. They might say it doesn't matter to them, but it does.

if your parents paid for or helped you pay for college, they will want to see you walk the stage.

Go, and don't leave early. It's not torture and you'll get to see a lot of the people you went to school with one last time.

GO! It's an experience you'll not get again. I didn't realize how much it meant to me until I saw the June 78 edition of Texas Aggie Magazine. There was a picture of me coming off the stage pumping my diploma up in the air. :gig:

Miles... I am walking (not at A&M though), and I hate these damn things.... I think that I would regret it if I didn't. We'll never get to do this again.

One day when your kid wonders the same thing you will then understand. Just do it for them not for yourself... give them something to brag about, and hell it took how ever long to do something that last 2-3 hours. On top of that, you can show your kids one day that you at that very second became an AGGIE for life!

do it for your parents and family who are probably extremely proud. sacrifice the time for their benefit. not going is just selfish, i think. i battled through it and i could see the joy on my parents' faces after we got done. it was well worth it.
but PLEASE, whatever you decide, DON'T go and then leave right after you walk. wait until the end of the ceremony.
congrats btw.

Dustin, Stobie, and Mass are exactly right. Do it for your parents. They may not act like they care, but they do.

I would walk, but don't leave early - that's Bad Bull. It goes by faster than you'd think. I hate ceremonies, but went to mine and was glad I did.

I didn't bother to walk.
I walked, would rather have been at the Chicken. Mom still has the picture on the wall for the grandkids to see though.

I'm very happy I walked. The Secretary of Defense gave me my diploma, shook my hand, and told me he liked the draw bridge I put on my hat!
