Which Position has you the most worried about this up coming season for the Ags?

Mole

Definately defensive secondary.

corner

I like Peterson, but I still worry about Gorrer's ability to cover and tackle.

I said LB b/c I like the possibilities w/ misi & dodge...but both are relatively young and back-ups are even more unproven.

the upside to Dodge is tremendous!

my CLOSE #2 is the DL.

DL? Really?

Harrington, Bennett, Obiozor at DE
Bryant, Smith, Heard at DT

That's one of the areas I'm most confident with.

i'm worried about injuries...
I like the rotation, but it seems that in the games we lost last year (except Cal, which everything sucked)...our DL got thrown all over the field...no penetration...with the same (or close to it) rotation as above...

I am worried about the lack of Pass Rush last year from the DE spot... being on the road the DL will be key to victories & playing like they did against Cal won't do... they need to beat up the O'Line like they did on T+1....

While our Starters on the D'LIne are good & could see the NFL... I am just worried about the Pass Rush & also the guy next to Bryant.... Heard showed flashes but wasn't consistent & the jury is also still out on Smith.....

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. Harrington and Bryant are run stoppers, while Bennett and Heard are great pass rushers. We are deep enough that injuries shouldn't concern us (at least not more than any other position). We also have a ton of experience there.

I voted LB'er

that was the part of our defense I felt that needed to step up last year. We weren't consistent nor were we healthy. Also we have two JUCO's that will probably be our starters there this year.

I think we will do fine, but its my worry position right now

coming in close was DL. Both the DL and LB'ers need to put pressure on the QB and stop the running game better for the 07 season

A big part of that is the 4-2-5 defense. Our secondary needed an extra man, so our "front seven" played the whole season a man short.

My second choice is special teams. Matt Szymanski had some issues with FGs last season. Also, the new rules make the kickoff team back up 5 yards. This will put a lot more pressure on our kickoff coverage team. The reason I didn't vote for ST was the fact that we have one of the top punters in the nation.

I voted WRs b/c I really liked the sure hands of chad and someone needs to step up all year hopefully 2 or 3 of them will.

My defensive worry is DBs

I voted FS/SS/Whip considering we lost Melvin Bullit but Loftin's comments on our FG problems made me think that I should've voted Special Teams...

for me is WR... and our passing game in general. it HAS to improve or we will struggle to win no matter how good or bad our D is.

PASSING GAME! So I voted for the WR, even though it's a concern that shares positions

Dude, there is no reason for anyone to be worried about the talent & depth we have at WR. I firmly believe we have the best WR corps in the Big XII.

DT is a huge area of concern for me. The depth isn't there & your best DT is coming off a serious injury. But the abundance of talent at DE prevented me from voting DL.

I went LB. You have very little experience at the position & they are responsible for making so many of the defensive calls. They are a very talented group, but two are very yound & the other two are going to really have to step up as leaders.

I would have to say the coaching position. If we are strong there, it will be a great season. If we are weak there, it will be a looooong season. That is the position that has me the MOST worried.

I guess it is just me but I just think a lot of games will come down to 3 pts or less this year and if we dont have a kicking game we could be in trouble. Also I think that they are going to be kicking from the 30 instead of the 35 which means starting field position could be anywhere from the 25-40 depending on the kicker.

What is the problem with the answer? It is not slamming anyone. Just saying that is the position I am most worried about. Now if y'all choose to see it as bad, well then that just gives insight to what you expect from the position this year...... :wow:

the Coach Fran Basher Position is what worries me the most. i just hope that the endless amount of coach hate doesn't affect our players or our recruits any more than it already has.

WR by far

I would like to know your reasons why?

Dustin00whoop
06-12-2007, 10:07 PM
As far as the moving back the kickoffs to the 30, I think that helps us more than hurts us. I feel we could throw about 6 guys back there that could take it to the house at any time. The more chances we get, the better off we are. The kick coverage team was suspect in the past, but looked very good last year.

I hate to agree with Dustin about anything, but why should our WRs be a "worry?"

We have arguably the best running game in the nation. We won't need to pass very often.

Agreed... Teams were held within their own 25 yd line consistently... that was very promising...

Also I don't think those extra 5 yds will keep Matt from booting past the end zone... most of the time he cleared the endzone by a good 10 to 15 yds....

Matt has a rocket of a leg, just needs to work on his accuracy...

I would agree with you on this one, except that due to its very nature, this position will not last for long anyway. Either Fran will do well, in which case there is no reason to bash, or he will do poorly and eventually be replaced, in which case there is no reason to bash. I am not seeing this "coach hate" you speak of, only "poor performance/results hate." I agree, the endless poor coaching performance and poor coaching results could absolutely have an effect on our players and recruiting, and it must stop! ;)

We won 9 freaking games last year & beat the sips in Austin. For crying out loud, give it a rest!

I'm not worried about the top of the DL rotation its who is filling in as the 4th DL and 4th DE.
I fear getting worn down in games rushing the passer and with nagging injuries.

Voted for CBs but is really a tie between the CBs and safeties. I think the DL will be salty and the LBs will show improvement over last year. I'm not so much concerned with the secondary's run stopping abilities as I am their pass defense abilities.

Honestly heading into the Miami game it's Chris Alexander.

We'll need him in what I think is going to be an ugly slug fest between two teams desperate for a signature win heading into conference play.
