Looks like the Bears are now playing Notre Dame in the new Cowboy stadium in Arlington. Last time I heard no one at A&M wanted to give up a home game to play in DFW.

How does every one feel about that now? Any second thoughts?

Baylor will get stomped and Notre Dame will get its' foot in the door in Texas recruiting.

Looking at how well ND recruits, this might hurt Texas more than us.

there's been people on here who weren't opposed to playing a game in Dallas. I know I have been in support of a game here (and it will still probably happen).
It would/should help our recruits...I don't see how this helps gaylor at all...

They will be on national TV for the first time that I can remember. Even though they'll be stomped, it's still national exposure.

I said play a OCC game in Dallas not a Conf. game like tech there and we should play ND. I think we would beat them soundly and I'm all for drinking with some of my fellow Catholics before and after the game.:gig:

If we want to play in D/FW, why don't we just play a road game against TCU, SMU or UNT?

I would like to see TCU.

Because a road games dosn't have all the hype like a A&M/ND Battle in Dallas every year setting. It's a event and it gets more press/media coverage unlike a typical road game.

This is getting ridiculous, I guess the whole Big 12 is going to have a game in the new Texas Stadium. Seriously, who gives a crap to buy a ticket to see Notre Dame vs. Baylor? Are they going to promote it as the battle of the religions, Baptist vs. Catholic?

Catholics win that one.:gig:

in 2012 and they are having trouble with tv rights because ND is NBC and Baylor is under the Big 12 ABC deal and it says if you play in Big 12 country the game has to be on ABC, so ND is balking because they have a contract with NBC

A&M vs a Big 10 school at the Dallas stadium would be tight... or A&M vs a Big East School....

A&M vs Rutgers, A&M vs WVU, A&M vs Iowa, A&M vs Minn..... & so on....

Home team's TV contract generally applies.

ND v. USC is on NBC in Southbend and on ABC when in LA.

If we do neutral site game in Dallas go with ESPN affiliated leage to get the national exposure.

Lets see...Baylor is not going to get ND for a home and home. So if they want to play a ND caliber team, it is going to be a road game with a reduced payout. So if they could do it at DFW and get half of the cut, what is not to love for them? They were going to lose to whoever they play OOC anyways, so might as well make some money doing it.

I hate the idea of giving up ANY home games to play in DFW. Home games should be played at Kyle Field...period. If we feel we have to follow the Joneses and play a game at DFW, lets put TCU and SMU on alternating home and home series. So each year we play one at Kyle and one in DFW. That way we aren't giving up a home game and we still get to play in DFW every year.

Under no circumstances should we consider doing a conference game in DFW.

How many times has A&M played ND and when was the last time?

This is totally different to what people have been opposed to. The opposition has been to losing a conference game to a neutral site field. We don't want to play Tech or Baylor in some second-fiddle game...

However, I'd be okay with something like this where we play a good team (like a Penn State, Miami, Virginia Tech) on a neutral field like Dallas and then DC or something like that the next year....

We played a home and home series with them in 2000 and 2001. We also have played them in the Cotton Bowl three times (1988, 1993, 1994).

I will be surprised if this game actually happens. The TV rights will be a major hurdle that will be difficult to settle. Regardless, it does nothing for baylor. They will not be competitive in this game, which could actually hurt them in recruiting. ND already has a strong recruiting presence everywhere. They don't necessarily have to go play games outside their normal areas to recruit players. I agree it would help them, but not a great deal. They already get players based on their reputation and name.

Yeah, but for Notre Dame, they don't have a conference. All their games are made up of other teams that are willing to schedule them.

It's possible that teams playing them now are not scheduling them in the future because of the potential that Notre Dame will be great again (with Weiss at the helm) -- so why screw up a regular season with a tough non-conference game? They may be looking to fill up their schedule now with new teams.

Baylor is an easy win for them...so why not?

Beat them in '88 CB, 35-10. Lost to them in '93 CB, 28-3. Lost to them in '94 CB, 24-21. Lost to them in '00, 24-10. Beat them in '01, 27-0 I believe. Prior to those years, I don't have a clue.
