If you're going to play in a championship game, you need to be sure to bring your A game. The Texas Aggies did just that, pounding out a season high 20 hits and defeating the Baylor Bears 14-6 en route to claiming their first ever Big XII Tournament championship.

Craig Stinson, who was smoking coming in, kept his hot bat alive -- going 4 for 6 with 2 RBI's, including knocking in A&M's first run of the game. He was a consistent force in the heart of the A&M lineup and his 11-19, 1 HR and 9 RBI performance earned him the Big XII Tournament MVP.

This tournament win gives Texas A&M 3 Big XII Baseball championships, having won the regular season crown in both 1998 and 1999. The bats of Texas A&M weren't knocking the ball out of the park...instead, they were consistently hitting grounders to gaps in the infield and well timed bunts and sacrifices advanced and scored several runners.

Add on top to all of this that A&M had no errors in the game and you wouldn't have thought you were watching the same Texas A&M team that took the field in the regular season. With 1 error over the 4 games in the Big XII Tournament, Texas A&M had an amazing .993 fielding percentage -- even more amazing considering the fact they were last in the Big XII in fielding percentage during the regular season.

During the game, it was announced that Texas A&M was one of three Big XII schools selected to host a regional tournament. The rest of the tournament teams will be announced Monday at 11:30 AM on ESPN

You missed that Stinson was named to the all-tournament team and was tournament MVP.

I got that he as tournament MVP, but not all-tournament team. However, one can deduce that if he was the tournament MVP, he'd be on the all-tournament team. ;)

Stinson has been on fire, for sure! I think the best thing about this whole deal is that we didn't even have to start Nicholson! :gig:

should of been a top 8 seed. Rice got a top 8 seed and we had a better record and we beat them 2 times this year.
