Big baseball game this afternoon for the Ags. This would be a perfect way to get that crappy sweep by the sips out of our minds. Need a win to get back on a positive note.
Supposedly, instead of pitching Nicholson on short rest, RC is going to start Rivers today. I know this might piss a lot of people off, but I am okay with it. We can't win this tournament anymore and there is not a whole lot that we can do to better or worsen our NCAA seeding. Nicholson has pitched a ton of innings this year and a crappy conference tournament is not the time to pitch him on short rest. We need to make sure that our big guns (Nicholson and Newmann) are 100% ready to go for the real tournament b/c if they are not, we stand no chance of getting out of our regional, let alone getting to Omaha.

The baseball IQ on Texags is mindblowing. I just read a few posts over there to see what was going on and it is mainly bitching about us not pitching Nicholson yesterday on 2 days short rest. Freaking ridiculous. Not much mention of how we stranded 13 runners and has zero clutch hitting.
I also find it funny that most people over there think that if we lose today, we are out of the tournament. I guess they are such fair weather baseball fans that they have no idea that the double elimination format was changed and now is pool play. They also still think that we can win the conference tourney even though we lost yesterday which is not possible b/c of some stupid tie breaker. Man I hate that site.

I guess I'll just keep talking to myself on this thread! I hope our bats get going today. The sips scored as many runs in one inning yesterday that the Ags have scored in their last 4 games combined.

I know nothing about soccer.... I don't like that sport. It sucks.
ok I lied... I know a little about baseball since I played softball for some years. But you guys go all deep into the play strategy and all that and I don't necessarily understand that stuff. But then again you are boys and that is what you do. ;)

Yes, baseball is America's pasttime. Today, football and basketball are the main sports.
EDIT: And yes, soccer is boring. Only fa ggots and foreigners like soccer.

We can still win the tournament. If we beat Texas and K-State, we'd be 2-1 in pool play. If Texas loses to us and beats Nebraska, they'd be 2-1. If K-State beats Nebraska and loses to us, they'd be 1-2. If Nebraska loses to K-State and Texas, they'd be 1-2. We'd hold the tiebreaker over Texas (head-to-head), and make the championship game.

That's what I thought as well, but it was mentioned yesterday during the broadcast that we could not win it if we lost to Nebraska. However, that might have been wrong b/c your scenario is correct from what I just read on the Big 12's website. I guess the only way we would not advance (assuming we beat t.u. and KSU) is if Nebraska wins one more game.

No, I have heard it from multiple places beginning with The Olsen Insiders on 1150 on Monday....since we lost to Nebraska, we can't win the tourney! Mark it down....Set it in stone! CAN'T HAPPEN!!!

The same thing happened to NU last year....they were eliminated from the tourney after the first game!

That makes no sense. If Nebraska loses to t.u. and KSU, they will be 1-2. If we beat t.u. and KSU, we will be 2-1 and own the tie breakers over KSU and t.u. How would we not advance????
Results from the league's 27-game round-robin conference schedule will determine the eight seeds for the Championship. Seeds 2, 3, 6 and 7 will compete in pool play on one side of the bracket, while seeds 1, 4, 5 and 8 will play in the other. The two teams with the best record within their bracket will advance to the Championship game, with the winner earning the Big 12's automatic berth into the NCAA Championship. Head-to-head competition will break ties within each bracket. In the event of more than two teams being tied for the top spot within a bracket, the highest seeded team will advance to Sunday's winner-take-all Championship game.

Are you talking about baseball? If so, that's wrong for 2 reasons:
A. They didn't lose their first game last year.
B. They wound up in the tournament finals.

Also...
A&M must beat Texas and Kansas State on Saturday and have every other game in its pool fall right to make the tournament's championship game Sunday.

Dustin, not sure what the hell you are thinking of b/c Nebraska played in the conference tourney championship last year and lost to Kansas. In '05, Nebraska won the conference tourney.

:o I am on lots of drugs!!! Feed me crow! Evidently, if KSU wins tonight, we still have a chance to advance. Which is cool! I love being wrong when it helps the Ags. But I wasn't on drugs when I heard everything that I stated today! So I blame the media!
