At Circuit City late last night.... We just got wireless at work so everybody is buying laptops so I had to get one. Anyway, I already dropped about 2k into my desktop about a month ago to have a smoking one just for games so I just wanted the cheapest laptop I could get just to get on the internet and play online poker at work.

Anyway, the price for the laptop was $699 plus you had a 200 dollar mail in rebate. Anyway, at the cashier he rang it up and I asked, "Aren't you suppose to give me something for my rebate?"

And the guy went, "Oh here...." And he gave me the mail in form and then swiped something and then the price dropped to $499. That was weird....

So I said, "I guess it's an instant rebate. I don't have to mail this in." And then before I can do anything else the guy got confused and said, "I don't know why it didn't work." And then he swiped it again and the price dropped to $299.00

I didn't do anything but left. And this morning I checked my credit card and I was only charged for $299 (plus tax)... Plus I still have the mail in rebate which I think I can still mail in right?

Wow.

I'm a Firefighter. Pretty sweet gig for now. We can do anything we want while we are at work. I usually just read, watch tv, work out, run, or play on the internet.

We use to have roadrunner and one desktop upstairs for 10 guys but now we upgraded to wireless which is very cool. Now we can all get laptops and not have to wait to use the computer.

And this is my first real experience with wireless since I just have regular cable at home so I may even upgrade to wireless at home.

Nice...

Just a fair warning, when you're wireless at home, make sure it's set up correctly...basically, you're beaming your internet who knows how far. I've heard stories about people using other people's internet next door because they had wireless (all they had to do was by the wireless adapter).

Also heard about criminals that drive down the street with a laptop trying to pick up a signal...when they get one, they'll hack and try and steal stuff from your computer. There's ways to limit your signal to just your house, I'm just not smart enough to tell you how.

I'm sure the frequency of this occurring is rare, but it's still, just a heads up.
