yeah I know. Jordan and the others though (IMO) did most of their damage in the 90's

just roll with it.

actually, the majority of them, now that I look at it more closely!

Just tell me so I can fix the poll for you

Right, but all of those players hit their prime in the 90s. They all played in the NBA Finals, but only Olajuwon from that list played in the NBA Finals in the 80s (of course, he went to two more in the 90s and won them).

Also, going with that "in their prime" thinking, I think Shaq should be 2000s. Also, you could make an argument for Iverson in either decade.

Dustin00whoop

I don't think they all hit their prime in the 90s & I definitely don't think they played the majority of their seasons in the 90s.

Granted, they hit their career milestones in the 90s, but most of those guys were on the decline of their careers by '93 or '94.

Its your poll. Just my opinion! I'm voting for the 80s because I classify them as players of the 80s.

fixed it

Im keeping it just like it is now. People can vote based on what they think and where they think these players should go

That'll work...

Go back and see how I edited it. I made it so others could figure out where each of those go.

Also, Im torn between the 90's and the 00's. Ill probably go 90's. I see the list being like I made it, and thats why im probably going 90's.

Hakeem Olajuwon: more seasons in 90s than 80s, most all-star games in 90s, both championships in 90s, all MVP and defensive player of year awards in 90s.

Michael Jordan: all 6 'chips in 90s, Dream Team in 90s, all MVPs in 90s.

Karl Malone: most seasons played in 90s than any other decade, only made the NBA Finals in 90s and 2000s.

Patrick Ewing: only made the NBA Finals in '94 and played more seasons in 90s than in 80s.

David Robinson: didn't actually come to Spurs until after Navy commitment in '90.

Charles Barkley: MVP in 90s, NBA Finals appearance in 90s, rebound king rivalry with Rodman in 90s.

Shawn Kemp: never played in 80s

Reggie Miller: all playoff appearances and memorable buzzer-beaters were in 90s, played most of his career in 90s.

Scottie Pippen and John Stockton: overrated and unlikeable, but they played most of their careers in the 90s

Who the hell is talking about David Robinson, Shawn Kemp, Pippen, or Stockton?

Olajuwon, Malone, Ewing, & Barkley were at their best in the late 80s. Granted they may have won their championships & MVPs in the early 90s, but thats only because they had more talent around them at that time! Jordan was great throughout but he gained his stardom as a big-time baller in the 80s! The shoes came out in the 80s for crying out loud!

Lebron is considered a player of the 2000s. He probably won't start raking in all his Championships & MVPs until the early 2010s. Are you going to then consider him a player of the 2010s?

blackgloves
05-23-2007, 08:10 PM
Lebron by far is a 2000's player. though his prime may be late 00's early 10's. he was drafted in the 00's, he's played MANY playoff games in the 00's (they will make the playoffs every year for the next few years)

Its fun to debate and I see both sides, but thats my opinion

I really think Jordan should be an 80's guy....he really made a name for him on some very bad teams....once the cast was in place is then they started winning

so putting Jordan in the 80's I pick the 80's.

He was a good, young player in the 80s. That's when he and Dominique Wilkins made the dunk contest a must-see event. Allen Iverson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett all made their name in 90s, but they are definitely players of the 2000s era.

However, his 6 titles were in the 90s. His MVPs were in the 90s. His 69-point game against Cleveland was in the 90s. His 38-point game with the flu was in the 90s. The Dream Team was in the 90s. When Jordan retired in '93, everyone said that he had retired in his "prime." He came back, and won 3 more titles.

Air Jordans revolutionized the NBA & the shoe market...those came out in the 80s. That ends the argument in my mind!

80's, hands down.
