he feels like Williams from Utah might be out playing him after Game 1 so he comes out tonight and currently has 14 pts and 14 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds

Anyone read the article on Willams and Paker going out to eat together before Game 1??

Didn't see the article but definitely agree he is raising the bar.

I didn't read it but I heard on ESPN that Parker offered him a free meal...

He took him to a French restaurant and said after the game that he needed to take him to a place that served bad food. He couldn't have him playing that well again in Game 2.

The article then said that Boozer and Williams would be a better duo then Stock and Malone in the future (due to the pace they are on)

Parker has always been really good in the playoffs. I remember when he was 19, and making Jason kid look bad by repeatedly going to the hole. (finals)

The playoffs are where Parker has grown up year after year...

He's had no choice having to go up against the best Point Guards in the league, Nash, Kidd, Billups, this year AI.... he's seen, faced & matched the best.... Being only 24... the kid will only get better as time goes on....

Things will get very interesting once Duncan starts to decline from the star of the team to taking the back seat to Parker (like Robinson did to Duncan) Those days are coming sooner than most think. Duncan has maybe 2 years max before he starts to take a nose dive? Thats assuming he doesn't start getting those same types of injuries that David did. (anything that slows you down tremendously)

We need to get another big guy that can dominate the low post/paint area soon.

Even now.... Pop is grooming Tony & Manu for that....

In Games 1 & 2, much like in the Suns & Nuggets series, Coach Pop has used Manu & Tony in a way that the Spurs have been able to increase their lead when Tim is taking a rest on the Bench...

In 9 of the 13 games of the playoffs... most of the runs that the Spurs make to separate themselves have come when Timmy is sitting.... Don't get me wrong... Tim dominates... Tim is clutch & will be there when it's needed.... but for that 2nd & 3rd quarter when the team needs to separate itself from the other squad, Tony & Manu have been the key in the playoffs....

While the Spurs wont be as dominant in 5 years once Tim is done or close to being done, The Spurs wont exactly be hurting... they will still be a playoff team & with a good draft pick here or there in that time, they could very well maintain.. but with Tony & Manu with a decent to good supporting cast around them via trades & free agents... the Spurs could maintain or remain a playoff team at the least....

The run now is something that happens once in a blue moon... so I am enjoying it now... I know it will eventually end the way it ended for Houston with the Hakeem & Clyde...

But the foundation is set for the Spurs to be good for a long time... maybe not Championship good... but at least Playoff good for years to come.

Punch:

Im feeling the same way. I know this wont last forever so Im enjoying it while it last. Once we go back to sucking, Ill think back on our runs in the NBA. Being a team that can barely make the playoffs or miss the playoffs is the worst though. You can never get a great pick in the draft so you stay floating in the middle.

Lets hope that we end up with another great big man in the next couple of years for Monu and Parker
