SA..... after what you said about my posting? :stupid:

HIJACK!

The Rangers are FINALLY hitting. But im still not on the boat with this team. It would be nice to just have a respectable team. Then on the other hand if they suck it up real hard some big changes will follow after seasons end. Im sick of losing all together

The recent posting about rangers baseball has coincided with above average play from the team. I don't argue science.

who should I be scared of on the houston roster? Roy O and......

Do you really want to go there?

There is not one major pitching category that the Rangers are better than the Astros in....

ERA: 3.98 to 5.08
Saves: 10 to 8
Complete Games: 1 to 0
Quality Starts: 28 to 17
Earned runs: 176 to 222
Runs allowed: 191 to 250
Walks allowed: 134 to 181
Strike outs: 290 to 258
BAA: .256 to .271

Pflugerville Ag
05-22-2007, 01:53 PM

Good pitching beats good hitting any day in baseball. If that was not the case, then the Rangers would have at least made the playoffs in the last decade. Managers and players don't give a crap about a good hitting team that can't pitch.

what about carlos lee number 3 in RBI's (only 3 behind the leader Arod)..only a matter of time before Berkman heats up. pence has been a spark...Lorreta is a Career .300 hitter and is hitting well over that looks to be inline to start at 3rd. Jennings is coming back soon. Smapson keeps turning quality starts..Wandy has tunred it around...Woody is our achillies heel right now..

I'm so confused...I like both teams. I'm a bigger rangers fan by far but I follow the 'stros and rooted for them during their world series run. I agree with both arguments...Rangers pitching sucks balls-way too inconsistent and no real ace that batters fear. Astros run support has been way too streaky the last couple years...one of the reasons Rocket and Pettite left...another reason...they're greedy bastards. ;)

Not only did they pawn him off on the Yank-mes but they're still paying him. You're right...that was a terrible move. You can't win any pennants with one player. I think that's why Tom Hicks won't spend any money on pitching or big name DH's...he doesn't want another A-Rod or even worse Chan Ho Park...

I have no idea what the overall score is. I know that it took the Rangers 3 or 4 years to win it for the first time in 2004. Frankly, I don't really care what Houston does against a team that they play 6 games with a year. I care about them making the playoffs and getting to/winning the World Series. Astro fan's goals are a tad higher than Ranger fans.

If you want me to quit hijacking this thread so that the two Ranger fans on this site can talk about the previous night's loss, then don't respond to this post with anything about the Astros!

Come on now. One team to catch, 6.5 games back in the "weak" NL compared to 3 teams to catch and 10 games back in the almighty AL. Houston's path to the playoffs is a tad easier than the Rangers. And, Houston as proved quite a few times over the last few years that they are never out of it. The Rangers prove every year that they are always out of it! :)

So you think your gonna catch the Brewers? Is that what you are telling me? Or that you atleast have a chance? which one is it? because I dont think either or will happen. The Cubs have a better chance of catching the Brewers than yall do. You dont have Roger or Andy, the two pitchers you had in the past when you made those late season pushes.

Take a VERY close look at our division. How far are we off from being in 2nd place?

Pflugerville Ag
05-23-2007, 12:30 PM
We will definitely give the Brewers a run for the division. They haven't been in contention in years and will fade down the stretch. I'm not worried about Houston's pitching either. Jennings will be back next week and Backe will be back later in the year. That is two more solid starters back to an already good staff.

Ok so the Rangers can't pitch.Have they ever? No. Will they ever? Hopefully the 2 guys taken today can help the rotation in 2-3 years. I still say if the Rangers were in the NL Central with the Astros in the AL West the Rangers would have the better record. The Astros would get murdered in the AL West and you all know it.
