maybe that'll jump start the rangers.

The 14-1 drubbing was great today. I'm the only Ranger fan in an apartment of 4 and I was loving ever minute of it. I want to know where those Rangers are who win 14-1 against the Astros and 14-2 against the Yankees. This isn't a bad team, they just can't put it all together at once. Victor Diaz and Ramon Vasquez might be the youthful shot this team needed. Get Wilkerson out of here.

I hate wilkerson

Yeah Wilkerson is really really annoying to watch.

This will make you hate the Rangers.

Alex Rodriguez turned into Brad Wilkerson. Traded A-Rod for Soriano and Joaquin Arias, then traded Soriano, Termel Sledge to Nationals for Brad Wilkerson and someone else. Arias is still in the minors and Wilkerson absolutely sucks.

I hope those announcers were wrong when they were talking about Vasquez being placed on waivers at midnight. With him, Mahar, Diaz I think that Daniels will be looking ot make some moves to off load some of these older players and look towards next year. Loftin should be valuable in a trade and they could've gotten rid of Blalock before his surgery.

Ok if you wan't to look at it that way then we lost Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young also. :headslap:

Superaggie79

I don't look at it as losing gonzaelz because he was stuck behind tex anyways... I wish we had Young though

Superaggie79
05-20-2007, 06:38 PM
Another thing.... why has Littleton been so up and down to triple a? He's got great action on his pitches and always seems to do well. He's a good change of pace from everyone he's gotta stay here.

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 06:49 PM
I love Littleton. I haven't figured out why he isn't up here instead of Scott Freakin' Feldman. I think either Wash or JD have a thing for Feldman. That is the only thing I can think of for him still being in the bigs. I'm going to the game Tuesday, so I get to see Santana pitch against Kameron Loe. This ought to be interesting.

But what if Tex walks when he's a free agent (either this year or next). Then we will wish we had A-Gon.

I just hope Kam can get back to his old self... two years ago I thought he had to potential to be great but he's lost something.

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 06:52 PM
He's been fairly decent this year, but I know what you mean. He is a great pitcher for the Ballpark because he gets a lot of ground balls.

Superaggie79
05-20-2007, 06:53 PM
Yeah... what about Volquez? Has he fallen off the face of the earth? There used to be all the talk about DVD now Danks is in Chicago... Volquez is an enigma and Diamond did he finally end up getting surgery?

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 06:56 PM
Yeah that DVD was scratched, big time.

Volquez is struggling in Single A, but is being promoted to AA pretty soon I think. Diamond had Tommy John and will be out for a year, but should be ready to contribute in late 08 or beginning of 09. Danks is looking good in Chicago, but McCarthy seems to finally have it turned around down here in Texas. He has looked excellent in May, so I'm hoping it's a sign of good things to come.

So to recap... what would you do if you were daniels? For me I'd be shopping Loftin, wilkerson, sosa and one of Padilla and Millwood. I know both won't bring much but you've got to change something up. Also you've got to decide if you're going to play small ball or go big and stick with it. We just need consistency in the lineup.

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 07:02 PM
Here are Volquez's stats this year...
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3990&position=P

Single A was terrible, but had a lot of strikeouts. His one start so far at Frisco wasn't bad though.

I agree with you and if you can get some top prospects for Tex, trade him. He isn't going to resign anyway, so you might as well get some top talent for him while you can. Lots of teams would give up good top level talent for 3/4 a year of Tex. We can probably get a B+ prospect for Sosa from an AL team that needs a DH. Wilkerson probably not much, maybe a B level prospect. Padilla we can probably get at least 2 decent prospects because he hasn't been bad this year, just no run support.

BTW, Nick Masset beat the Cubs today giving up 3 hits and 2 ER. Masset went with Danks to the Chi-Sox.

coco cordero got his 17th of 17 saves today

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 07:29 PM
Yep, just saw that on baseball tonight. I still agree with trading him though, he was horrible last April and I still don't think he would have figured it out in Texas. Plus now he is in the NL, with weaker lineups.

CHHS_Aggie
05-20-2007, 08:12 PM
I think you shop Padilla out of him and Millwood. Millwood seems to be the more consistent out of the two and less prone to the home run ball.

I would be surprised to get a B level prospect for Wilkerson. And as for trading Tex I see nothing wrong with it as long as you get some top level talent in return. Or at least get something before he goes and gets the big money somewhere else.

Its also good to see McCarthy finally coming around.

bobcatfan06
05-20-2007, 08:14 PM
Yeah, B level might be too high. How about C+?

Superaggie79
05-20-2007, 08:21 PM
I think that we'd all agree that all trades have to be for starting pitching.

For the love of God please keep Otsuka

I hear we are having a fireworks sale at the end of the season which I think is warranted

Im sick of this

but pwning the asstros was nice

CHHS_Aggie

Otsuka is good but I don't like him as a closer. I prefer Gagne who stil has what it takes, as long as he can stay healthy

, as long as he can stay healthy

very key there....

To be honest I never understood going after him when we had Otsuka. we should be throwing that kinda money at a #1 or #2

no need for a great closer if we cant even keep the games close

Superaggie79

yeah gagne still has the intimidation factor.

Congrats on finally winning a series. I figured a Rangers fan would be talking ************ about beating Houston. Afterall, Rangers fans don't have much else to brag about being that they are in last place, 10 games below .500, and haven't won a single playoff game in over a decade.

Superaggie79

If the Astros played in the AL west they'd have the worst record in the bigs.

The American League currently houses the best record in baseball: Boston
The National League currently houses the worst recrod in baseball: Washington
Both Boston, and NYY have bigger pay rolls than the highest pay roll team in the National League.
Team batting? Out of the top 5 teams, 4 are from the AL.
Team pitching? 3 of the top 5 belong in the AL.

Gloves, you know as well as I do that you can manipulate stats (especially baseball stats) anyway you want to.

You're using payroll $ as an arguement? The highest payroll in baseball is 4 games under .500.

Of the top 10 teams in baseball (by W-L record), 6 are from the NL. Of the bottom three teams in baseball (by W-L record), two are from the AL. So doesn't that mean that the NL is better???

Forget the Angels try they would have to pitch to Vlad.

Pflugerville Ag

How about this....57% of the teams in the AL are below .500. Only 50% of the teams in the NL are below .500. So, that tells me that overall, the NL is a stronger league. Sure, the AL might have a couple powerhouse teams, but the NL is better top to bottom which would make an entire season a little tougher in the NL than the AL. Plus, your AL teams would not be quite as good if the pitcher had to bat!!

sure am... that team may be terrible now, but regardless they suck up talent we could have on our team. And if you think they wont be in the playoffs you were probably the saem guy that said that all the other times :stupid:

Go ahead and bookmark this post. THE YANKEES WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR!!!! They will not catch Boston which means that they have to get the WC. No chance in hell that they finish with a better record than the 2nd place team in the AL central or even Oakland.

you can not argue the batting average because the NL plays baseball like it is suppose to be played--with pitchers batting...which figure into team average....so that arguement is lost

Pflugerville Ag

Further proof that you can make stats sound better than they are. Gloves said that in team pitching, "3 of the top 5 belong to the AL." That is correct, but you failed to mention that #1 is from the NL. What about the top 10? How many teams in the top 10 are from the AL? How about only 3!!!

Looks like the correct emoticon to accurately describe the entire Rangers existence, how they perform in the playoffs (when they make it once per decade), and how their owners treat their fans.
