Jones, 60, is an avid angler. A divorcé with no family nearby, he sometimes stayed at the shop for hours. He had friends here. So when he placed second in a fishing tournament two weeks ago, the regulars expected he would show up the next morning to crow about it, just as he did after a win the week before. But his moment of triumph -- his trophy plaque and $886 -- was the one that got away. He left the winner's circle that day in handcuffs, facing a felony count of theft by deception. Fishermen at the boat ramp cheered his arrest. Others were moved to anger. Fishermen can forgive all kinds of transgressions, but not cheating.
You think the sport would be "clean"???
Wow! I had no idea people would go to those kinds of lengths to cheat.

Baseball & all sports for that matter should test for everything that is illegal... Period...
It's stupid to test for this or that, but not test for everything that is Illegal per the Law...
"Oh he's on roids or HGH, but we don't test for it, so we will look the other way even though it's illegal here in the US."
Completely stupid!

You can make a crap load of money in bass tournaments. This guy was winning $500+ for small amateur tournaments. Bigger ones pay huge amounts and routinely give away fully rigged bass boats. Unfortunately, there is a ton of cheating in fishing b/c it is pretty easy to do w/o getting caught.

I didn't see (in the story) exactly WHAT he did to cheat...just that he got caught & arrested.

Another thing that people have been caught doing is stuffing ball bearings down the fish's throat so that they weigh more.

Wow, ball bearings? Kind of like corking your bat?

As many of you know, Sammy Sosa is back this year. He's honestly the best player the Rangers have too (they are struggling). I never wanted to see him again though.

I give Sammy a lot of credit for having the balls to come back and work his way back into the majors (while being 50lbs lighter!).

If you can do it w/o getting caught, you'll be floating in a much nicer boat than everyone else!
