Hey guys,

I am coming to Houston in a few weeks to see my fav band at the Scout Bar. Anyone ever been there?? How is it? Do you know about the area? It is on Egret Bay Blvd. Never been to this bar before, so I thought maybe some of you Houston Ags could help a girl out. :)

Tell me anything I might need to know about getting there if there is a trick. I have directions, but you know how that can go sometimes. :)

Any help would be appreciated.

My personal experiences...

Drove through Houston about 2am one time during the week. There was NO traffic and it still too me about an hour to enter-drive through-leave. I didn't stop, no lights, just straight driving. INSANE

I went to Astro World many times. Large groups of young kids wearing ALL RED, and the others wearing ALL BLUE. Constant fights, and cops running to get to the new location of where they have met up to fight. People extremely rude too

I hate Houston.....

I have never been to Scout Bar before but looking at the map it is in Webster. You shouldn't have to worry about crime there. Webster is notorious for it's police force. Don't speed or drink and drive in this town. I searched and I can't find the articles online but I do remember the police there coming up with some questionable schemes to bust speeders and drunk drivers that have gotten them in trouble in the past.

Webster is actually southeast of Houston, down by NASA. It will take you a little time to get down there. Probably about 45 minutes from 290 and the Sam Houston tollway to get accross town. The quickest route through town will probably be 290 to 610 east to 45 south. 45 will get you almost all the way there. Avoid I-10 at all costs as it is under construction inside the beltway right now. Houston can take a while to get through, but not because the roads are bad just because the city is so large. If you know what areas and times to avoid you can get most places pretty quickly.

Also yes Astroworld had a lot of undesirable people hanging out there during the summer that scared off a lot of families and that is the main reason it no longer exists.

If you're going through houston at rush hour avoid the west loop (610) at all cost.

As long as you are in Webster by 4 you should be ok. Get much later and you will get stuck with everyone that is going home on 45. Here is a link to a live traffic map of Houston. You can click on any section of the roads and then click on "Live Speed Chart" and it will show you a graph of the average speed at all times of day. It looks like 610 starts to slow down around 3pm though.

Mole's thoughts on driving in Houston:

1. The actual speed limit about 10 mph over the posted speed limit. If you can't do at least that get off the road.

2. Regardless of number one always keep up with the flow of traffic. If everyone is going 80 mph you go 80 mph. I don't care if the sign says 30 mph and it's a school zone.

3. Learn to merge. If you think slowing down and waiting for people to let you on to the freeway is how you should merge into traffic you should probably bypass Houston all together.

4. It's well known that all HOV lanes in Houston aren't patrolled by the police. Please drive as fast as humanly possible. Doing 55 mph in the HOV may get you hurt.

5. METRO buses don't follow any known traffic laws.

6. Using your blinker is a sign of weakness.

that area is pretty nice. lots of new neighborhoods around there and around NASA. crime shouldn't be a problem. traffic usually isn't too bad over there, just avoid 45 S or N around rush hour.

my sis owns a condo pretty much across the street from scout bar. they have been there several times and say it is a great time. several other friends i know that have been have never said anything bad.

as said b4, watching speeding around there b/c webster has a lot of cops patrolling around.

Hey, my brother-in-lae is a cop in webster.....SERIOUSLY. And the previous rules do apply...Drive faster than the posted speed limit, avoid going through town during rush hour and learn to merge.
