Ok well i read through the Horns preview so I thought I would throw out my predictions. I am sure that this will stir up controversy but listen to my reasons and if you disagree (some/ most of you will) please post in response!

Horns prediction = ridiculous 6-5

MY prediction (preseason predictions mean squat but theyre fun)

@ Clemson

This will be the only test for the ags in their first four games, bad thing is....its first AND on the road. A 1-0 start in clemson with easily become a 4-0 start. One good thing here is that i am NOT a firm believer in clemson and i see tamu winning 31-21.

TAMU 1-0

SMU

Home opener for the aggies after an offseason of huge predictions and high hopes....kyle field puts 80,000plus in the stands and half of the SMU players refuse to even get off the bus.... tamu 49 smu 7

TAMU 2-0

Texas State

Texas state is predicted in some polls to win the southland and be ranked in the top 20 for d2......all the due respect given to their rising program.....
tamu 56 txst 3

TAMU 3-0

Baylor

The upset of the century occured at the battle of the brazos last year sending the aggies in to a 1-4 season end.....Not to mention several acts by baylor fans...(goal posts, barn painting, t-shirt selling, rivalry wanting)

tamu will beat the ever loving **** out of baylor....i dont even think the dang score board goes that high...kyle field will have to rent a basketball scoreboard to record this one and for that reason i will post only a W.

TAMU 4-0

@ CU

now the fun begins.....colorado has been rumored to be an a-hole of a place to play.... friends of mine that have attended games there say they have been spit on, rained on by foriegn objects, and everything except being jumped in the parking lot.....some aggies may get their butts kicked in the stands...not so much on the field.... tamu 28 cu 24

5-0

OSU

oSu - Vmo = bad.......oSu - les miles = bad....get my drift? oklahoma lost to every big 12 south team last season (minus baylor) ....now they lost their firepower (vMO, bajema....etc.) tamu 34 oSu 14

TAMU 6-0

@KSU

sproles is no longer available to chew up tamus run D.....wait....did he ever chew up tamus run d? quarterback questions also pose a problem for the declining cats....upset win only but i dont see it.... tamu 24 ksu 10

TAMU7-0

ISU

Well if tamu were to get upset this season this would be the game....with tech, ou and texas to come....isu doesnt seem like one we really want to study for does it? Fran shows replays of the baylor game in an attempt to achieve focus for his undefeated aggies......it works....tamu 21 isu 10

TAMU 8-0

*wrapping up with the last 3 games i will say that tamu can do anything from win em all or lose em all....i am not going to say win or lose.....rather i will give reasons why either is possible....of these games i see texas as the most winnable*

@ ttu

this predictions probably the one that will get my a$$ in alot of trouble with you guys so i will just say this....Everyone knows the history in lubbock, everyone knows that tech gets up for tamu....everyone knows techs offense is supposed to be better than ever with an improved defense....and everyone knows THE AGGIE PLAYERS KNOW ALL OF THOSE THINGS...... thats why i say toss up..... but for the sake of this prediction i will go ahead and give to tech....you will see why in teh end...TTU 42 tamu 35 (poss OT)

tamu 8-1

@ou

maybe they lost clayton and white but this is still ou...i know you guys pulled a squeaker last year but OU will be rockin and so will adrian peterson.... i think everyone is underrating ou this year they still have a ton of talent and therefore i say ou 38 tamu 24 sorry guys....

tamu 8-2

TEXAS

ahh the big one in tamu's eyes....i called ou underrated well guess what...as usualy TEXAS IS OVERRATED AGAIN....whether they win or lose the RRS, they still will be thinking big bowl, big finish, big team, blah blah and finally YES FINALLY tamu gets this one because 3 games lost in a row is unthinkable and they get their asses up for this one.....

tamu 24 texas 10

tamu 9-2 and possibly picking cotton.

NOW....before you poeple kill me please be reminded that i said the last 3 games are all tossups.... i had to make a prediction....may be wrong....you may win all 3 of those games and lose an upset game somewhere else...NOBODY KNOWS.....thats what i love about football......

That is actually a good preview. Alot of people have that same preview but it's still pretty good.

I have us at 8-3 or 7-4. Alot hangs on Clemson. We have a history of blowing big non conference games (Florida St, CU, BYU) which sucks but that was not the Fran era so I'm more confident.

Losing on the road to Tech and OU are respectable, as is a 9-2 record. Add that to a win over Texas and I'd be very happy. BTW, that is game for game the exact same prediction I made for A&M's season a couple of months ago.

TAMU 6-0

oSu - les miles = not so bad
oSu - bill Clay = in a much better position
oSu + Mike gundy = seems like a good fit, but no experience
oSu + Larry Fedora = great anticipation for the coming season.

We might not be as bad as some people think, but even my orange colored glasses only go so far. I think we will play teams closer than anyone is anticipating, but may not win more than anyone is anticipating, so in the end, wins are all that matter......

Quite possibly one of the most intelligible things ever to be typed by someone out of lubbock, I don't agree with it much, lots of generalizations, but a good overall prediciton.

I can testify for CU, its a bitch. THe students are pretty cool, usually too baked out to care, its the dropouts (see t-sip fan for better description) that cause crap. We walked to the game and back to the cars with a yell leader from '56. They were cussing, yelling and throwing crap at us. Then two students came up to us and apologized and walked with us the rest of the way, explaining the situation. Still a great place to go on a trip. Teaching the bartenders to make flaming Dr. Peppers and having every Buff alumni buying us rounds at the foundry was great.

Now your academic institution, well the batteries, tortillas and red cool-aid come with goal posts from your student body

And tortillas soaked in red coolaid kinda hurt when pelted with batteries inside them. Plus they are mushy. The real ones you gotta worry about are the just plain soggy ones, my money is on it not being water that soaked them. Personally, I wouldn't be upset is someone leveled that town. It it might boost the state's IQ a bit.

frozen tortillas huh? cant see how they stay frozen during the wait to get into the game, the wait before kickoff (most students arrive at least 2 hours before kickoff) and the wait until a score. and dont give me that crap about throwing tortillas at aggies.....you find me someone who is dead eye from 50 feet with a tortilla and i will show you some ocean front property in arizona

50 feet...no!!! And I really hope they weren't aiming at my wife which wouldn't make them dead eyes regardless of distance. But a corn tortilla thats as hard as a brick thrown from 2 rows above you to the back of the head will leave a knot. Disagree, say what you want, etc....but just because you are bearable doesn't mean that the majority of fans at tech games are. And its not just the students...as a matter of fact, the former students (both of them....we know that no one ever graduates from tech) & the people that live in the panhandle are just as bad, if not worse than the students. The incident that I speak of took place in '03 5 rows up, 50 yard line, alumni side (or whatever y'all call the section behind the opponents sideline.) I'm never going back to a game there until they get some control of the idiots up there.

maybe you should re-read his original post....nothing but attack. i have no problem with people cheering for their team but when guys like that take it that extra step and start ripping on my school then i am going to resist THAT behavior.....

i challenge you to find one thread i have posted that has ridiculed texas a&m or any of the people who support it....all i have done is try and have decent conversations with you and i daily find myself trying to stand up for my school against UNBELIEVEABLE crap, and streotypical accusations, lets get back to FOOTBALL which is what i believe this thread was about... not how lubbock sucks and tech people never graduate and cows live in lubbock and tech people are *******s and tortillas make me cry..... and like i said....everyone has been hit with a tortilla including myself....its never intentional however.....find me someone who can accurately aim a tortilla

polish
07-24-2005, 09:54 AM
I agree it's not imtentional 98% of the time, however, i know for a fact that Tech Students aim for the A&M sections, b/c i know hs people who do it. Who it hits is not intentional but what fans it hits can be somewhat judged. Even if all were thrown with no care, it still sucks to get hit by one and is a stupid tradition to me, personally; Mainly b/c i don't understand why it's done, Can you give me the history of the tortilla toss? (terrible puncuation :()

Tech people never graduate is dumb

There are cows in CS too, ya'll just have different kinds

redraider217
07-24-2005, 01:26 PM
ok sure....someone may aim for some aggies...but im not that someone. every college has ******* fans...EVERY COLLEGE....its just the tech fans that seem to excel in making names for themselves. the ags sadly seem to bear the brunt of most silly acts of indiscretion.....however.....i have always thrown tortillas at kickoffs and touchdowns....tortillas have been around since the spike dykes ara and are actually fading out. they play a video on our big screen that say why we shouldnt throw tortillas. i dont know the history but we always throw them in a celebratory fashion....for example..

some people shoot cannons at kickoffs
some people pop a bottle of champagne to kickoff a celebration
some students at texas tech wing tortillas like frisbees

call this tradition stupid if you like....(cause im sure as hell not going to stop doing it) but remember that we are not the only school whos traditions have brought scrutiny and laughter. you enjoy humping it, and throwing the yell leaders in the fish pond, and not saying the E-word right? well we enjoy our traditions too...silly as they may be

polish
07-24-2005, 02:20 PM
Well I guess an Aggie will have to enlighten you on Tech Traditions :)

In the late 80's, an ESPN football announcer said during a Texas Tech football game that "All people know how to do in Lubbock is make tortillas." This raised their ire and ever since then Red Raider fans throw tortillas on the field after Tech scores. There are signs all over the stadium urging fans not to throw any objects on the field and Tech is sometimes penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Don't get me wrong i like you as a poster and i agree you never say anything bad ags, and i'd say your the best non-ag poster here, but i still don't like tortilla throwing, do it i don't care i just don't like it. I'll stop here cause it's pointless to argue about something stupid like this. Lets move on to agreeing on how A&M is going to win the MNC ;)

redraider217
07-24-2005, 02:42 PM
just because you dont like it huh. you didnt give a reason other than its "stupid" stupid or not we do it. like i said dont be so quick to call other peoples traditions stupid....texas a&m didnt invent the concept of traditions

First of all, if you want to talk about attacks, lets talk about you insinuating that I was making up that story. Thats where you got off on the wrong foot. And saying that no one ever graduates from tech was half-way sarcastic & half-way personal experience. I have known at least two dozen people who have attended tech but only two who have actually graduated. If you've graduated, let me know so I can up my total to 3. If not, don't worry about it until you do graduate.

And I'm sorry if you think that I'm close minded, but going to a game with my wife & in-laws, having my wife hit in the head with a rock-hard tortilla, watching some 60 year old man try to fight my father-in-law, & hearing language so bad that it even embarrassed me, is not my idea of a good time. The majority of tech fans are out of control & the school has done nothing to change that. Until that changes, I will not step foot into that stadium again. Close-minded means intolerant of the beliefs & opinions of others, & you are right, I'm extremely intolerant of what your school believes to be acceptable behavior.

I'm not jumping on your school because of what some believe to be stupid traditions. But I can't think of any tradition at A&M that has ever caused personal injury to a visitor & still be allowed to continue. As far as traditions go, no harm no foul. The actual tradition of lofting tortillas is actually pretty cool. The problems is, is has gotten out of hand & the people that run SBC SWBYPS Jones Smith McCoy (or whatever the hell its called) Stadium have done absolutely nothing to control it. There is no arguing that point.

txaggie07
07-24-2005, 03:10 PM
first of all, good prediction. i will be really happy if that actually happens. i would trade a loss to tech for a win over tu and a chance to actually show up in the cotton bowl.

second, i enjoy all of your posts and i think you are easily the most objective non ag poster we have here. however, it seems like you are the minority of the tech fans that i know. about half my friends from high school went there and they brag about throwing batteries, pouring cokes on ags, keying cars with aggie stickers on them etc etc. not to mention i have heard firsthand accounts of friends that i have that are ags of all those things happening to them. while i have never been to lubbock for a game, the prospect of having my car keyed, coke thrown on me, and basically just being harassed for an entire game doesnt really appeal to me. while every school has bad fans(i was embarassed for some of the ags behavior that i witnessed after our game against yall) it seems like tech fans just take it to another level. and while ags would call out somebody for pouring coke on a tech fan, my friends tell me people either cheer them on or just not say anything. even the people i know that go there that dont do all that stuff admit that they are in the minority. but thats just my opinion. maybe one day ill make it to a game and see if the stories i hear are true.

like i said, i enjoy your posts and compared to the idiot raiders on raiderpower and texags, you are definately much more objective and if you know any more tech posters like you i encourage you to invite them over here.

polish
07-24-2005, 03:10 PM
I was being nice, but you wanna know why it's stupid?

Well to start, throwing anything at a sporting event is one of the most juvenile acts imaginable. Yes that includes the basketball game where we threw airplanes, it happened once and it died out, why b/c we realized its really stupid. If it had been a onetime thing, it would be funny.

Why doesn't the Tech Administration support the tradition? Do they tell people about and say hey this is what we do, be proud of it, no. Traditions are things your proud of. You said it yourself, it is dying out.

The fact that the stupid act of throwing tortillas has cost Tech several unsportsmanlike penalties, anything that hurts yor team, isn't considered a good thing, in fact what happens if an OSU cowboys fans starts throwing tortillas on the field and ya'll get a penalty? How gay is that?

I guessing walking up and down the stairs at the stadium isn't the safest thing in the world with tortillas scattered about. What happens when that one tortilla someone watered down causes someone to fall and Tech gets sued off its ass, yeah good job. Is he a pansy sure, but is he gonna win, sure.

You realize for a vistor being hit really ruins the experience, having to worry about some jackass throwing tortillas because he has them and he has nothing better to do. But you say that's only like 1% of people. Your right, and it still makes the University look bad, no tortillas=zero problems. When your tradition involves other people, you have to take into consideration what people want.

I'll say it again, move on
Lets stop here cause it's pointless to argue about something stupid like this. We're not going to agree, whatever, big deal. Not everything said on an aggie board is gonna be good about Tech, same with A&M on a Tech baord. You have to learn to not try and defend everything in the world. Lets move on! Reply to what everyone said and then lets not post on this thread, which by the way was a good thread by you, please continue to contribute to the site.

yeah and this guy schmack is full of crap too.....how can we boost his IQ? a few more idiotic posts and it may be even tougher......

vly rock i didnt notice what you had done till just now....good stuff man!

It doesnt hurt my feelings but apparently schmack has issues with red koolaide
frozen tortillas huh? cant see how they stay frozen during the wait to get into the game, the wait before kickoff (most students arrive at least 2 hours before kickoff) and the wait until a score. and dont give me that crap about throwing tortillas at aggies.....you find me someone who is dead eye from 50 feet with a tortilla and i will show you some ocean front property in arizona

Sorry I meant raise the state's AVERAGE IQ, not any individuals, that was inferred, and should have been understood, but I should have remembered what I had just said, and that you wouldn't understand.

"rock hard tortilla"

thats like saying rock hard paper airplane

so you know 2 dozen people from tech....congratulations thats less than 1 % of the students. how can you make a legitamate argument concerning the masses of an institution when you base it on less than 1%

and as for you schmacky boy....get over yourself....just take a deep breath and remember that texas tech is not your rival....once you remember that texas tech is not your rival, then you can stop going out of your way to put them down....unless thats how you do things with schools that ARENT YOUR RIVAL. thats great that you think were all stupid....you have shown by your incredibly insightful posts that your credibility IS the law...period. i look forward to somemore of your delightful comments in the future. start with a good foundation of "your momma" jokes and build from there....youre doing fine!

and polish i dont know why the tortilla conflict continues....its really not that big of a deal.....they are fading out anyways..... you have made your point that YOU THINK tortillas are dangerous and stupid. thank you. i have expressed to you my motivation behind the "silly" tradition yet you continue to place me with "the rest" consider the tortilla subject DEAD.

on a side note polish, i also enjoy your posts and appreciate the nice things you and everyone else have said to me....i definatly intend to stick around because whatever streotypes i may have had about aggies have been totally removed by the awesome guys on aggiefans.com...... i am well aware that i am participating in a lions den of people that all think tech is smaller, poorer, dirtier, and less powerful. i dont expect to hear all good things but what i would like to do is open a few of your eyes to the reality that texas tech has some genuinely good people that are not out to hurt, insult, key cars or anything else. are you afraid to go to a tech game for fear of vandalism? then by all means do what you need to do in order to keep yourself safe. all i can do is assure you that none of those things will be coming from me.

Rep for that. Some people on here have this hate for Tech that I'll never understand. I honestly like them when they play against anybody other than us. Texas University is the only school I hate.

Loftin, I'll let it rest but until you have attended a game there or traveled to Lubbock a few times, then you will never understand why people hate them.

RedRaider, I truly appreciate the majority of your post & it seems that you are different than what I consider the vast majority of tech fans. We'll have to agree to disagree, put it behind us, & I'm sure next time a disagreement errupts on this board we'll be back on the same side again (don't forget, I had your back last time someone attacked YOU on this board.)

I thought the administration asked the students to stop throwing tortillas because in the heat they melted/stuck to the turf in the stadium and basically made a mess.

 I for one would be satisfied with 8-3 this regular season. However, that needs to be followed up with a bowl WIN.
