I'm gonna weigh in on this Don Imus thing. First of all, I've never liked him, he's pretty liberal, and I've never liked his humor. But what he said regarding those "nappy headed ho's", was not that big of a deal. Why is it that black people can say things along the same lines in rap videos, or movies, and it's ok? Why is it that the Rev Jessie Jackass can make racially heated statements regarding the Duke Lacross team which were untrue, and when it's proven false, he isn't held to task. Why is it Rev Jackass can call New York hymietown, and he doesn't lose any of his sponsorship for his Push Coaliation. Why is it when Al Sharpton, the racist can go after a Jewish owned business who wanted to increase their size by not renewing a part of their building that they rented to a black business. He called these Jewish people, crackers, and helped organize violent incidents against them, and he was not held to the same standard?
I find it very hypocritical that the President of Viacom which owns CBS fires Don Imus, a shock jock, for saying "nappy headed ho's" yet the MTV networks which are also owned by Viacom show gays kissing, rappers disrespecting women, and basically showing things on air that children have access to and should not be watching, yet they aren't held to task like Imus? If black America wants to hold white people to a certain standard, it's time that white people fight back and hold the black man to the same standard.

Finally something that I agree with you on.
Just curious Jeff, does the corps still sing Dixie when Duncan serves steak? Whe I was there we did, and our X.O. was a black guy and he would stand up, put his hand over his heart and sing. I'm sure you don't because the first Black Yell leader, not that liar Bo Bo, was in Duncan when it happened to take place, and he cried to the president of the university. Also, i'm sure the Aggie Band doesn't play the Civil War medally like they did when I was there. They'd play Dixie, Glory, The Bonnie Blue Flag, but you can't do that now because Dixie is considered racist. My old outfit had a confederate flag on it with a keg, well you can't have that anymore. Some of the other corps outfits had confederate flags on them and they had to be changed. I guess all the pictures showing the first cadets are gone, because they wore old confederate uniforms. You do realize that several years ago a bunch of black students at TAMU had a picture of one of our presidents removed because in the potrait in the background was a picture of Robert E. Lee.
In Austin, on the campus of t.u., there is a statue of a confederate soldier which commerates the Texans who died in the War of Northern Aggression. Well a black student organization is trying to have that statue removed because it commerates the confederacy. Just so you folks know, if they are successful, there is another statue that will have to go, Ol' Sully. You know Ol' Sully don't you, Soldier, Statesman, Knightly gentleman, General CSA, Governor of Texas, and President of the A&M College.
Just think about the double standards, and how racist they really are.

The first presidency of Texas A&M was offered to the former President of the Confedracy, Jefferson Davis. He declined.

Yes that is correct. But Sully was our first president. Didn't you ever read the inscription behind his statue.

Is it all right to make racial comments on the radio if no one ever knows whether you are white or black?
In other words, if a radio personality never goes public, could he make and continue to make such negative comments without being fired?93

I'd say maybe, but in all honesty, about 90% of the time, you can tell if they're white or black based on how they talk...so it'd be hard not to know..

Don't kid yourselves. Half of this country didn't know who Imus was before this whole episode. Now everybody knows who he is and he will be just fine.

yet Howard Stern is still on the radio??? go figure...
more moral grandstanding during a slow newsweek...couple that w/ the celebration of Jackie Robinson this past week...just poor timing on Imus' part.
an a different note...has the Rutgers Women's BBall team ever seen this much publicity? :bored:
