Just browsing texags and someone wrote the word "aggy" but it showed up as ****

I understand it's a "put-down" (sort of for us Ags), but it's no worse than tceh or whorns...Sorry, I just think it's dumb to censor that.

aggy has been banned for several years on texags. of course its no worse than saying "whorns" or "tceh" but the point is that its OUR site so we shouldnt have to listen to that crap.

The list of word censors at TA is QUITE extensive. Everything from "aggy" to "dollar bill", etc.

I see your argument, but at the same time, "If you can dish, then you should be able to take it."

I just think that this is what leads to one-sidedness on forums and turns off a lot of posters from other schools. I like talking to Aggies, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it's nice to hear from a Baylor fan or a Clemson fan to see what they think/feel about the upcoming game. I think it's retarded that they get censored or banned for saying 'aggy' two seconds after some poster puts Wack-o or Tceh. Know what I mean?

trust me texags is VERY lenient with people from other schools. go to hornfans and say anything and it will get you banned. i agree with pretty much all the words they have censored over there

I'm not aware of the list of Texags words..i just saw a post where one guy said, "I don't like Tceh...I think it's stupid we write that." Then the next guy wrote, "it's the same as them saying '****'" <--that's supposed to say a-g-g-y"

It just kind of put it in perspective.

And, don't read this post wrong, I'm not bashing Texags or saying don't use them or go there...i still post on there daily. Just pointing out what I saw.

Doesn't hornfans have it so that if you type t.u. it automatically changes to UT?

Hornfans is freaking ridiculous.

Hornfans is nauseating. Every time i go there it is "aggy" this and "aggy" that (but we're the ones with the obsession, right?). Also, I don't think that I have have seen a single thread(any subject) that didn't include any references to sheep-humping, "Raise Up!" video, or the "we win with talent, great coaching, and player development" quote from Fran_Fan. It's also hilarious that a National Championship is what they are expecting from their school that hasn't won their own conference since 1996. Also, in a thread predicting the A&M 2005 season, EVERY poster had us losing to Clemson, Kansas State, Colorado, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas. Meanwhile, they will go undefeated ;) .

I would prefer that TexAgs censor "aggy," just because it's our board and it's meant for us to enjoy. Texas and Texas Tech fans rarely provide anything worthwhile. Baylor fans were enjoyable until this last Halloween, when Hell froze over. However, away schools like Clemson and St. johns have had fans come and be treated very well. So, it's really doesn't matter to them if "aggy" is censored.

By the way, what about "aggy" is supposed to offend us? "Whorns" looks like "whore" and "Tceh" has a picture associated with it. "Aggy," however is nothing more than a misspelling.

Also, why are all of Texas A&M's players and fans referred to as "Aggy," a singular person, and not collectively as "Aggys?"

I have been a lurker at TexAgs and love the amount of posts and the comedy that some give but the board format is terrible, imo.

I really can't stand it...I like this format much better.

HornFans is funny....they keep saying we are obsessed with them but look at how many posts are about us....it's scary.

I also have never understood the use of the singular "aggy" in cases where the plural should be used. It's a whorn thing I guess.

Eventually, I hope you realize you are going to end up having to ban *some* people. It's great to try and be more laid back than Texags or Whornfans but what people don't see is how many absurd out of control posters Texags has to ban especially Tcehtards who just spew filth and the ever-present sip who isn't above making fun of bonfire victims.

So just wait, we will find out why some sites had to become more heavy handed. The point I would make though, is that banning things like "dollar bill" for Bill Byrne is stupid. That is Nazi-ish And so is not being able to at all at any time question moderation policy even the slightest bit without getting the boot.

Just my .02.

I agree...we will be lenient in these early stages. Eventually, we will have to take control of over the top posters or ones who disrupt the boards. Don't worry about us being too lax.

On a side note, if you come across anything you deem offensive, bring it to the moderator's attention by clicking the http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/images/buttons/report.gif button on the post.

Vlyrock and TexAg2006, man I was reading this thread, and I think I might have pressed that little exclamation point thingy on one of 2006's threads. Think it was last week sometimes, I was just kind of exploring when the site was new and looking at the icons that appear underneath the usernames, and I pressed it to see what would happen. If I did, it was completely unintentional. Apologies to you both if I did, I'm reading this thread and thinking oh crap I flagged one of the mod's threads. My bad.

I don't think it did anything that time.
Usually it sends us all an email, but maybe it just sent it to the other guys since I was the subject.
