Kicking woes continue: The Aggies had their share of kicking problems last year, and they haven't gotten better this spring. During the team's "Mayday" drill at the end of practice, the first team offense drove into field goal range for a game-winning kick. Unfortunately, former A&M Consolidated kicker Matt Szymanski missed it wide right from about 35 yards.
The scene has not been unusual this spring. Szymanski has had trouble converting field goals in the team portion of drills the past couple of weeks.
When asked for his thoughts on the situation, coach Franchione was in no rush to worry just yet.
"We'd like to make those [kicks], obviously," Franchione said. "Matt's had a groin injury that's probably impacted his kicking a little bit, but we have confidence that it will all work itself out. I'd be very disappointed and surprised if it doesn't."
After Monday's missed kick, several players were very vocal in their disappointment, wondering when the team would next make a field goal.
