Texas A&M has offered the men's basketball job to Wichita State coach Mark Turgeon to replace Billy Gillispie as its next men's basketball coach, multiple sources close to the situation told ESPN.com Sunday night.
Turgeon still needs to agree to the terms of the contract before accepting the position. He is expected to meet with Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne Monday with a possible news conference Tuesday in College Station.
Gillispie left Thursday after three seasons to replace Tubby Smith at Kentucky.

When you are dealing with contracts (houses, purchasing agreements, coaches, etc) nothing does legally or should ever be considered done until that signature is on the dotted line.
It's business for coaches...not a game, not a passion per se and not most certainly not a past time. It's what they do for a living. That said its closer to a house sale than anything else. Nothing means anything till the signature is on the piece of paper.

I did some research on him and like him. Byrne has showed that he can find talent. I would rather find a quiet mid major waiting to be unleased like fbcg then go after a big name.
Read this thread on texags. They love him in Wichita. I actually feel bad for the guy because I share his same pain. When you go lower down in the thread he mentions that Mark Turgeon might be willing to stick around with a program more then fbcg which is huge to me.

My biggest fear is that he pulls a bcg & takes off after a couple of years for UofL, Duke, or some other Basketball Power house...

Me too...... But to hear some of the people who live in Witchita, that dude is more about winning then the money. If can have our program continue with the sucess were having then it's possible this guy will stick around longer.
I hope. God helps us if we just start to become a official stepping stone to a basketball powerhouse factory.
I like how he turned down Arkansas to come here. (If he does come here) That is too awesome!

Not if the students/season ticket holder have to do anything with it! I think bcg was looking for some more love. I felt like we gave him ALOT but there could of been more. Maybe now we have realized that it is possible to become a 2 sport school and we need to support BOTH sports/coaches to the fullest extent. :gig:

I wanted Anthony Grant but this guy seems good, I just hope he can recruit. We know Grant can do both recruit and coach.

Byrne had never failed at hiring a coach, so I'll assume that Turgeon is the right guy. He would have been #4 or 5 on my list though.
