As a consensus top-two quarterback in the state of Texas, Dorman had stated that he planned on taking a little while before making a decision. He had visited College Station for a junior day in late January where he became the first at his position to receive an A&M offer.
Dorman then took in junior days at Texas, SMU and TCU with the Longhorns and Aggies emerging as his leaders. In fact, he was told by Texas head coach Mack Brown (http://tamu.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=64) that he was the No. 1 quarterback on their board for the class of 2008.
However, one more trip to College Station helped Dorman decide to make an early pledge to the Aggies. While other schools are still trying to catch the 6-foot-3, 204-pound quarterback's attention, he maintains that he is a solid A&M commitment.
"I'm A&M all the way," Dorman said. "I couldn't be happier with my decision. Schools still talk to my coach, but I told him that I was shutting (my recruitment) down. I haven't talked to any coaches from anywhere except A&M."
In the day and age of negative recruiting and the like, Dorman actually reported a very positive experience regarding other coaching staffs after he made his commitment.
"After I committed, (the other schools' coaches) all sent me text messages saying 'Congratulations,'" Dorman said. "It was actually really interesting to see. The Oklahoma State coaches and Mack Brown (of Texas) both texted saying that A&M was a great place."
