The Reed Rowdies President was nice enough to give me a litte breakdown on his thoughts about the South Bracket.

From a getting to the final four standpoint the Ags probably could not have hoped for a better bracket. There's a potential early pitfall having to play a traditional basketball school like Louisville that close to their home arena in the second round.

The Stanford-Louisville game is one of the more intriguing 6-11 matchups. Stanford is a team much like Kansas State. They have a pretty good record with alot of wins, but basically lost to everyone in their conference. They did score a big home win over then #2 UCLA which probably got them into the tournament over a team like the wildcats.

Louisville out of the big east looks like a solid team on paper, but upon further inspection of their season they are 2-4 against top 25 teams the two wins being back to back wins over Pitt and Marquette, it. Although the power of the might Big East is almost taboo to challenge it's worth noting that they lost to Dayton, UMASS, and a (at the time) pretty weak Kentucky team.

If the Ags make it out of Lexington we get a great oppurtunity to play in what should almost be at least favorable atmosphere in San Antonio. The most likely opponent on paper is going to be the #2 seed Memphis, but I'm not so sure they make it out of New Orleans. The south bracket buster to me is Nevada. How Nevada at 28-4 dropped to a seven seed is puzzling, but Memphis has right to be more than a little upset at their second round draw. Nevada has the type of team that could not only unseat Memphis, but if they were to get hot could also find themselves on the verge of the Elite 8. People talk about the East bracket having the most star players but the South has Nick Fazekas, Greg Oden Acie Law IV, and Chris Lofton.

I guess that's enough breakdown of teams in our half of the bracket and I'll give some predictions on players and teams.

Most Overseeded Team: Memphis; it's hard to argue with their seed because if their record, but it's also hard to look at their schedule and honestly say that Memphis is a better team than a Virginia or a Texas A&M.

Most Underseeded Team: Nevada, this is a team that was on the brink of the top ten for much of the season, and has one of the best players in the tournament.

The Bryce Drew Award: This is award given to a player on an unexpected team that could surprisingly find themselves in the sweet 16. The award for this year? Drew Lavender of Xavier. Lavender is a transfer from OU that has experience in the tournament.

Overall I see Nevada, A&M, Ohio State, and Tennessee getting to San Antonio.
