I know a lot of you have dish network and like it but if you ever have any problems with it you are out of luck. I have had it for the last 10 months and 16 days and have never been happy with it.

The latest and final problems is that the "switch" is broken and must be replaced. I called Dish Notwork and was informed that is a common problem and that I would be charged a $30 service fee for them to come out and replace it. Since it was a part I was renting from them I was rather unhappy. Therefore, I told them that since they aren't honoring their contract I want to cancel with no fees. They then said that they would waive the fee. (thanks a real big help) I then asked when they could schedule an appointment to fix it. They told me it would be a week and a half. I then asked for a supervisor to get a reimbursement for the time that I was going to be without TV. They put me on hold for 30 minutes, then promised to transfer me and conveniently hung up on me. That occured two more times that night before I gave up calling.

I called to cancel today because I was tired of their crap. They informed me of the cancellation fee because I had not met my 18 month commitment and I told them that for the channels I wanted I could save that amount over the next 6 months with cable and have a signal in the rain. The "account specialist" told me that I was wrong and couldn't save that much money. I have the pricing sheet in my hand with the total bill for each of the next 6 months.

I was also told that cable will also charge me to come out and fix their equipment if it breaks. This is also a lie because I had a cable company come out 3 times to fix the cable modem I had rented from them and I was never charged a dime.

I should have known from the beginning when Advanced Wireless lied to me twice about the time and day the technician would be in town to hook it up. I also should have known when they turned off my service three times because they "didn't have the correct address." The technician sure seemed to find it fine. I was told each time that it wouldn't happen again.

NEVER SIGN UP FOR DISH NETWORK.

yeah, i had bad dish experiences as well...

see if your local cable company has a "Dish Buyback" program...they have it w/ Comcast up here in TN & you get your cable/internet at a DEEP discount if you switch from satellite to cable...

Ummm...I use them but haven't had near as many problems as you have. Actually, haven't had any other problems (other than the Big XII tourney black out last weekend) -- but that was local.

BigJohn only got the game because he had ESPN's full court package.

The only thing I am disappointed about is DirectTV has a March Madness package with all 64 games and Dish Network doesn't.

I called the cable company and the lady worked for 15 minutes getting all the discounts she could. Then she told me that when my bill goes up to full price pay it for a month and then call back asking for the "retention department" and inquire why the bill went up. They will lower it back to the lowest rate it had been for another three months. One of my friends who is a total tightwad does this routinely and it has worked well for him with suddenlink.

Just wait until you have a technical problem and you will have your hands full. Just remember to threaten to cancel your subscription if they try and charge you for a service call. I am just tired of dealing with their crap.

i know alot of people like to crap on cable but one thing with them all service calls are free and they usually can get there the next day or 2 max. ive had all 3 dish services (when voom was around.... man were they good but never got a foothold) and thats no an uncommon practice. my dad has directv (with their top tier of service and the person who installed his dish pointed it correctly but right through a tree... was wintertime so the leaves wern't a problem) but when spring hit he lost signal. And directv wouldn't come out at all unless it was a paid $50 service call.

I switched back to cable about a year ago and you pay more per month but the relative lack of issues is very nice and service is much better than I ever got with the dish companies.

I have digital cable and I get discounted Internet but I pay about $10 morea month having cable than Sat. TV. It is worth it because you don't lose signal in the rain with cable and the fix stuff for free. If they go up anymore though I might change

I've had problems with my equipment from Dish (my DVR went cyborg on me & erased all my recorded programs...including the t.u. football game & the KU basketball game). They tried that crap about a service charge & asked to speak to the cancellation department. After about 30 seconds of laying into them, they transferred me to customer retention. Those people kick ass. They sent me a brand new receiver, free of charge, & lowered my bill by $10 for the next 6 months because of the inconvience.

I've never really had any problems with Dish. I had to get my switch replaced, but there was never any discussion of me having to pay for it. I have never dealt directly with Dish's customer service either. I always work with them through a local Dish store, so the service is always much faster and better than if I had to call them directly.

However, the only reason that I have Dish is b/c the only cable option where I live is Cox. I hate their digital package and HD packages. If Time Warner was available, I would have them instead of satellite.
