Definitely Bush in the stands. Also looks like maybe Mickey Mantle in the dugout, but not 100% sure that its him.

I need to go through my old collection and see what I have that I'm not aware of. I haven't collected any cards since before HS, but I've got at least 10K cards. My best one is a 1964 mint condition Mickey Mantle card.

Nice! I have a bunch of "game used" cards. cards with actual pieces of jerseys and so forth in the card. I have some stuff from the 80's and 90's but not that old

That is my only really old card. How would you feel if I told you that I got it for $5? :) At the baseball card store that I used to go to, the owner had a huge box of "grab bags" for $5. Each bag had had 5 cards in them (always no names). There was always one bag in there that had a very valuable card (to get people to buy them of course). I was lucky enough to pick the one with the '64 Mantle.

why would they stick a card like that in there? it could be worth hundreds if not 10's of thousands?

There would be hundreds of the bags in this big bin with only one bag containing a card like that. He did that to get people to buy them in hopes of getting it. I just got lucky.

Someone in the Topps' art department had a little fun with Derek Jeter's 2007 baseball card. Alert collectors will spot two famous faces in the background. 2007 Topps baseball cards are arriving at hobby shops and retail stores across the country this week and tucked amid the standards we've grown accustomed to is the one featuring Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter. A closer look at the background reveals a uniformed Mickey Mantle handling a bat in the dugout while behind Jeter, walking through the lower box seats is a smiling, waving President George W. Bush. i have a lot of cards, but none that are that old or rare. probably the best one's i have are the griffey rookie cards, sandberg topps rookie card, mcgwire olympic team topps card. i also have a card, i say card, its not actually a card, it is more of a plate shaped as a card.... of mickey mantle's rookie card. i am not sure how much it is worth, but i got it for a christmas present a long time ago.

I have over 100 cards of Juan Gonzalez in hopes that he was a Hall of Famer! If he can get two more good seasons in he will. Oh so close to 500 home runs. I have alot of different rookies. and I pulled a signed card from a old timer (the card was brand new) but he was retired and it was autographed. its the real thing too, not printed on. I probably have close to 30 game used cards maybe more, not real sure

I've collected basketball cards since I was a little kid. I've got quite a few of those autographed and "game-used" cards. However, the only cards that are really worth anything are pre-1989 rookie cards that are graded by beckett or PSA. My best is a graded Hakeem Olajuwon rookie, graded 8.5 (NrMt-Mint+).

Because that's when the card collecting business exploded and cards were produced on a much more massive scale. I have rookie cards of players like LeBron James, Shaq, Iverson, Kobe, etc., but everyone who collects also has those cards.

good to know...most of my cards are pre-1989. I'm probably sitting on a gold mine.

I've got a '58 Mantle, '58, Aaron, & a '58 Mays. A '61 Maris. And a Piedmont Tobacco Card of some guy named Unglaub who played for the Washington Senators. No clue what year it is from but I would say the early 1910s.
Pre-89 means nothing for the value of baseball cards. The '87 Topps set contains all kinds of unbelievable rookie cards, but they aren't worth sh*t. On the other hand, the '92 Bowman set has a lot of value to it.
I have two Clemens rookie cards & they aren't that valuable. Hopefull, that'll change someday.

I only collect people inducted in the baseball HOF now.

Unglaub was probably 1910 because he played for senators at the end of his career. He was a Yank and Red Sox before that. Only played 6 years (batted .288)

I love old baseball cards. Me and my Dad both collect.
It could be 1909, but i would say it's probably 1910
Piedmont was 09-11. Your guy retired in 1910. They made alot more cards in 1910 than 1909. It's an educated guess. If I saw the card I could tell you immediately.

Wonder what the hell that thing is worth. I've always used Beckett or Tuff Stuff for pricing but they don't have prices for cards that old. Any clue where to find out?

not much, he was basically not very good.
Depends on condition. Graded min $50 - max no idea but alot if it were really highly graded, just becuase it rare for a card that old to be graded highly. Ungraded $20 - whatever, depending on condition

Yeah, its not in the best shape...just cool to have a card that old.

My oldest card is a football card. It is of the whole Cleveland Browns team. I know it is from sometime in the 50s, but I don't know the exact year.
Pre-89 means nothing for the value of baseball cards
Yeah, baseball cards have been around a lot longer.
