Rodeo Cowboys or Hockey Players? ... Who's the Toughest?

I would give roughstock riders in rodeo a little bit of an edge just because they get just absolutely mauled by a bull, get sewed back together and get in a car and drive eight hours to another rodeo the next night.

tough call....

me being a hockey fan, i would say hockey on some stuff, but thats if i didn't see what goes on in a rodeo, riders have some balls.

I would say hockey because of the shear speed and blindside hits. On a bull you knows its coming with in 8 seconds ...hockey those guys are flying and get clocked out of nowhere...nothing against riders they are tough SOBs too

I think it's hockey. Like pinetar said, you know what's coming at you in rodeo, there is much less predictability in who's or what's gonna hit you in hockey

Rodeo riders. Hockey players get injured they still get paid. In the rodeo if you don't ride you don't get paid. So a lot of those guys ride with all sorts of bad injuries.

Hockey...

The punishment last longer. All the black eyes, stiches, concussions and so forth. My vote goes Hockey

Rodeo

I don't think you can even compare the type of injuries that can be inflicted by a person and a bull. As for knowing what is coming at you in rodeo, if you get bucked off, flip through the air, and hit the dirt you are disoriented and have no idea where that bull is. A hockey player can get one hard dirty hit in and the refs will be right there to stop it, in bull riding there is no stopping the carnage if the bull is determined to hurt you. A bull rider has to quickly get up no matter how bad he's injured and get his ass over the fence before he's safe. A lot of bull riders have no insurance and will rarely see a doctor. I was at a local rodeo and one guy I know got hit square in the chest as he was getting off the dirt and thrown back and up a good 20 feet. There were no EMT's there, he could barely breath, was coughing up a lot of blood, but wouldn't let anyone call an ambulance. He laid in his truck for about 45 minutes, still barely able to breath, and still coughing up blood. His drunk 16 yo girlfriend then drove him the 2 hours back home where he slept it off.

I've been kicked in the chest by a horse and I've been hit square in the chest by someone running full speed at me. There is no contest as to which hurt more and longer.

If you measuring them pound for pound, roughstock riders in rodeo would win. No question.

For Tro http://www.orangepower.com/images/smilies/headslap.gif, Soccer and motorcross riders are the best conditioned.

are you serious? hockey injuries vs rodeo cowboy injuries? a bull can inflict WAY more harmful injuries than a hockey stick, puck, or another player. there is not even an angle to debate that. it is just the truth.

yeah I know that. Ive seen vids, Ive been to rodeos. Thing is, a hockey player goes out on ice for a long period of time, with sticks and pucks flying. Not to mention 200+ lbs men coming at them constantly. They do this every week. It takes a toll on your body really quickly

both sports are brutal...

I still give the edge to the hockey player.

Lots of bull riders have been killed, many many more people die every year just riding horses. My great uncle was killed being kicked by a bull, I knew two people that were killed by a horse rolling over them playing equestrian sports. My next door neighbor died being trampled by a cow.

A person could never inflict the type of injuries that a bull that weighs more than a ton can.

It is true that a hockey player has to play with that pain over a course of 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so it's a different circumstance. But guys in rodeo are the same. They have a high pain tolerance, too and they face the possibility of getting absolutely maued by a bull.

I also have a great uncle that was killed by a bull (not in a rodeo) I know the drill.

Id take the life of a rodeo star over a hockey player. thats all Im saying.
