Class of 2009. He's a dual threat QB, at 6'2 183lbs and runs the 40 in a 4.4

Both of his coaches are Aggies and his cousin was the first to commit for the 09 Class (Craig Loston)

We just offered, the stars are linning up to get this kid in more ways than you know

One of the top QB prospects in the state, possibly nation for 2009. He really likes A&M, but wants to look at his options.

what about the QB from Birdville who is a 2008 recruit. what's his story. anyone know?

Here is what was in the paper today...

Texas A&M has landed its first quarterback oral commitment for the Class of 2008. Birdville junior Tommy Dorman said he has given A&M his pledge, giving the Aggies 14 commitments already.

Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit in the Class of 2008 can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 6.

Dorman (6-3, 205), a dual-threat quarterback, said he chose A&M over offers from Oklahoma State, SMU and TCU. Dorman said he attended Junior Days at SMU, TCU, A&M and Texas but has been set on becoming an Aggie ever since taking part in a five-day camp at A&M last summer.
“I just fell in love with their traditions and history,” Dorman said. “I’m dead set on Texas A&M. I’m not going to change my mind.”

Dorman was 130-for-231 passing last season for 2,051 yards, 24 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He also rushed for 911 yards and 17 touchdowns on 149 attempts last season.

Dorman said A&M coaches told him that he’d be the only quarterback the Aggies recruit for the 2008 signing class.

“That makes you feel pretty special when you hear them say that,” Dorman said.

Well hes not a commit just yet though I can see why you would say he is. But they did offer him as we already have

I was talking about the young man from Birdville, whether you were saying Shepard was offered or whether it was the guy from Birdville and tech was making a run at him. But i assume now you meant Shepard

Back on Topic.... The kid is high on Sherman & his Pro Style offense along with the Pro Background that the Assistants have on Offense also.... :gig:

Here's a video interview with him....

Has Loston committed?...Rivals shows A&M on the radar but no commit...Shepard is awesome and it would be great to see him commit but have heard that the Ags are also looking at Ty Rollison from Sulpher Springs.

Being that it's still real early... I hope A&M brings in everyone.... I have heard Loston is close, but hasn't said anything about which school he is committed to....

Good measuring stick for Sherman....

Fran lost out to Carr on McGuffie...

Can Sherman beat out Rodriguez for Shepard?????

BuddyB
02-14-2008, 01:48 PM
Well it sounds like if we can grab cousin Craig we can get Shepard...IMO I think Shepard as well as the rest of the new potential recruits will want to see how the team performs under the new regime...sorry I guess I am just stating the obvious

...and from what i hear, sherm has told him he wants him at QB

I saw it coming... It's been said from day one that either Jerrod or Ryan could either both be moved to WR or one of them could be moved to WR....

Some don't like to hear that, especially those who are neck deep in the Jerrod Johnson camp... For some reason that's blasphemy.... Even though it happens all the time....

But anyways... those are Sherman's thoughts (I can't find the link, but I've read it on either Scout.com or ESPN)...

But if not that... If neither Jerrod or Ryan are moved to WR, a little competition hurt anyone...

Why can USC be the only school to stock pile players at every position???

WesTxAg
02-14-2008, 08:06 PM
ive seen ryan play WR his senior year in person--because his shoulder was injured

looked pretty dang good for being hurt

i can't imagine JJ not getting his due shot at QB tho...his arm is way too special...oh ya, and those wheels....GIGGITY!

Pumchavas28
02-14-2008, 08:11 PM
THey both can play both positions at a high level... Personally, I'll go with what ever Sherman decides.... But recruiting Russell Shepard or any other QB in this upcoming class will definitely make things interesting...

WesTxAg
02-14-2008, 08:12 PM
when did playing the percy harvin position not become a selling point?

Pumchavas28
02-14-2008, 08:15 PM
It's a huge selling point.... Only thing is, Sherman is going to have to show that he can utilize that type of player.....

Maybe turning Mike into that type of player or Stephens or Gray....

WesTxAg

....ah, i love the possibiities....there's talent back in aggieland & it's here to stay:gig:

It's now official... Sherman has not only offered Sheppard, but has told him he could compete for the Starting QB spot as a True Freshman.

http://tamu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=775348 (http://tamu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=775348)

While Shepard was impressed with the pedigree of the Aggie coaches, the fact that they are recruiting him as a quarterback meant even more to the five-star prospect.

"They told me right off the bat, 'Russell, we want you to play quarterback,'" he said. "They said, 'You can come in here and compete for the starting job as a true freshman.' Coach Rossley said, 'You have the fastest and quickest release in the state that I've seen this year. You know what to do and we want you to play quarterback.'

:wow: :wow: :wow:

Say what you want about JJ, Ryan or Tommy... but if this kid (who calls A&M his possible #1 choice after his visit), chooses A&M, the other 3 QB's are gonna have a fight on their hands for the Future Throne at the QB position.

What an awesome problem to have!!!!! :gig: :gig: :gig:
