well....... kinda........
In the Big 12, it might be called the Kevin Durant (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31579) Rule after the Longhorn freshman who has electrified the entire country and leads the conference in both scoring and rebounding.
"Because now you can have a kid come to school for a year and play basketball and he doesn't even have to go to class," Knight said Monday during the Big 12 coaches call. "He certainly doesn't have to go to class the second semester. I'm not exactly positive about the first semester. But he would not have to attend a single class the second semester to play through the whole second semester of basketball.

I think he's calling out the NCAA, not the kid. Durant is doing everything he has to. If you have no intention whatsoever to graduate, would you go to class if you didn't have to?

Dustin was talking about how he wasn't attending any classes this semester on a thread on here the other day. i think Cali had questioned it or someone had.

Give the kid a break. After all, I wasn't a star athlete in college and I never went to class.

You beat me to it.
Simple fix. Instead of one and done make it two and done. Then they have to go to class the first year.

It doesn't help the second year. I think it should be like Texas HS sports where you have to maintain your eligibility every 6 weeks

That works. How about you have to be academically eligibable to get drafted to the NBA. :wow:

 not gonna happen!
Of course it's not going to happen. That doesn't mean it shouldn't.

Have you seen the weird moves the NCAA makes?

It won't happen because colleges don't report grades until the end of the semester or quarter.
How do you sink up a school like Auburn which runs on quarters and a school like A&M that runs on semesters?
You would have to change the entire university grading policy for everyone.
I say do it like Baseball. Once you're in you are in for 3 years.

Rumors have been going around for the last few weeks that he isn't going to class.
Here is a better question? How does the NCAA rule academic eligibility? I know you have to maintain a 2.0 but how many hours are required to be completed each semester? That would really change a lot. If you have to enroll for 10 but you don't have to complete 10, then you could enroll for the Fall semester, Q drop all but one class, not attend your classes in the Spring....just a thought.

He should be getting better as the season goes on....if he isn't going to class that gives him a lot more time to work on his game. ;)
Durant needs to work on putting some meat on his bones. I just can't see that kid playing in the NBA with some large physical guys. He'd get broken like a matchstick.
