I was on a group ride yesterday and was talking to an older Aggie. He apparently is hearing that Kentucky is going to make a major play for BCG. He then told me that dollar Bill has said that no one will beable to out bid TAMU. If so, BCG may wind up being one of the highest paid college basketball coaches. Hopefully they do the right thing and pay him more than Fran. I think after three years, he deserves it. He is a winner, and he is turning TAMU into a major basketball power.

We have a guy ###### (deleted to keep the confidentiality of his source) ;). He was told saturday that fran is getting ****canned after the season. They started looking for a coach after tech, but he had a chance to keep his job had he beaten o.u. infact if he lost to o.u. it might have been ok. But per this guy, after what happened on saturday, and the way in which he lost, he is gone. The money is now angry. I realize that this may sound out there, but this guy is pretty crediable.

I think his credible sources are a little suspect...?

I don't think anyone would question us for making BCG one of the tip paid coaches in the country. A&M should take the necessary steps to ensure he stays with our program. There are not many coaches out there that have all the qualities of BCG. He is a great coach, great recruiter (especially in TX), class act, and represents the university very well. The guy is simply a winner. He has proven himself and should reap the benefits of his hard work. Unlike other programs that were paid prior to the results. BCG will be A&M's version of Coach K.

I would think he's planning on building the program even more given how excited he seems over his incoming recruits. I'd be surprised if he left.

How many times would you want to go somewhere and rebuild? UTEP never really had a shot at being Top 10, so I could see leaving there. But A&M is currently #6 and only looking to get better....

Really, how much better can you do (besides a Duke or North Carolina)?

I agree, I think BCG is home. I hear he is building a nice home, and he is a Texan for heaven's sake. Now it's just too bad we can't same the same for the football coach. I do think BCG deserves to be making more or the same as Fran, he deserves it.

I think BCG is here for the long haul.

IMO the only way BCG leaves is if he as dreams of being a pro coach. Even then I would bet A&M could come up with the money to keep him here.

Billy's style wouldn't fly with the primadonnas in the NBA. The first time Iverson mouthed off Billy would be in the news for making him run 100 laps around the area then benching him for 10 games.

What makes Kentucky an attractive school for him?

Wishful thinking. He's a God at A&M and he's already building a championship caliber program. At Kentucky, he's just be another good coach and if he doesn't get them to the Final 4 every year, they'll be calling for his head.
