I saw today that a junior in high school had orally committed to a Big XII basketball program.
Do you agree with juniors in high school orally commiting to college programs and why so early?

if they know where they want to go and are offered a ship, why not? they can get the process over early and enjoy their senior year of high school.

i think it's ok. gets it over with and they can focus on school work their senior season instead of being distracted and caught up in the whole recruiting process.

That just seems way too early for me. I think it is dumb to think a kid will know where he wants to go to college that early. I guess there are exceptions to the rule. I'll let it go.

You are one of the exceptions. Early commitments for others just gives them more time to flip flop and make fools of themselves.

It works both ways though. My not committing now, the kid is taking a gamble. What if he has a bad year? What if he gets hurt? By committing now, the kid is guaranteeing that his college will be paid for. A&M has shown in the past that they will honor their scholarship offer as long as the kid doesn't get in legal trouble...see Latrael Cooper for injuries & Quentin Gardner & Trent Hines for legal troubles.

speaking of cooper...what is going to happen to him? with the plethora of RBs we already have...and the good crop on the rise, where will he go?
I've heard talks of FB, is this true?
My best friend from HS used to teach @ Cuero & said this guy is a hell of an athlete & a pretty good guy. I'd just like to see him succeed... (even though he is a f'n gobbler ;) )

Well, Cody Wallace is an F'n gobbler too.
Yeah, I think he ends up at FB to fill in for Chris after next season.
