For those who don't know, former Saints LB Sam Mills died of cancer yesterday. His story was inspirational and he had a chance to inspire millions as an assistant on the Carolina Panthers. He helped lead them to the Super Bowl last year when they fell to New England.
He was given only a few months to live after being diagnosed with the cancer, but continued to fight (and coach) for longer than 2 years. He scheduled chemotherapy and treatment during off days and minimized being away from the team. I remember him being at the Super Bowl Festivities, and the article below describes the incident, He flew to Houston on the Thursday before the Super Bowl, one day after a round of chemotherapy, and joined Fields for a news conference. Sweating and holding on to the podium for balance, he said "You have your good days and your bad days. I am just glad I am having days, you know?"
My sympathies go out to the Mills family. Carolina lost a good man. This guy was a fighter and very inspirational.
