No sir. You can't have a kid in school & playing for you before you have a scholarship available for him. He wouldn't have been able to enroll & play for us last year if we didn't have a 'ship available for him after we signed everyone in '06. Like I said before, you can't count 'ships forward.

He doesnt' have to be on athletic scholarship to play football. I have no idea what year his scholarship hits but technically he could just walk on ala Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson with their baseball contracts paying the way.

Who was talking about a kid walking on? I'm just saying that a kid who played in '06 couldn't have played on 'ship & have that 'ship count toward the '07 class.

My understanding is that we anticipated Lionel Smith signing with us last year. When the "red tape" did not allow this to happen, we used his scholly on Syzmanski. Now that Smith is cleared, we used Syzmanski's 'ship originally marked for this year.

In other words, we switched the two rides. :)

That very well could be how it happened GSZ. That I don't know either way. I just know that Symanski's 'ship counted against '06's class. And that could be huge because we signed so few this year. If we lose people to injuries or transfers this year, that would mean we could oversign by one more kid if need be.

Recruiting next year will be critical. We did pick up some solid-looking kids in a year where we didn't have many schollies to give, but next year really needs to be strong.
