Fran & A&M are on a freaking role with the 2008 class.... :gig:

http://tamu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=635815
It was an easy decision in the mind of Jacksonville offensive lineman Joe Villavisencio (http://tamu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=61012) to commit to Texas A&M Saturday at Junior Day.

"They have been sending me letters since last season," said the 6-foot-4, 307-pound Villavescencio. "The offensive line coach (Jim Bob Helduser (http://tamu.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=95)) keeps sending me letters. I get generic letters coming from other schools. No other school has been contacting me quite like A&M has."

Villavisencio was able to check out A&M last season as well.

"I went to two A&M football games last season," Villavisencio said. "The atmosphere, the coaches - I don't think I would have considered any other school. They sent me an offer and I wanted to commit to them."

Another huge kid for the O'Line!!!!!!!!

Did Rivals just now post that Villavisencio committed? Sometimes I wonder what the hell those guys are doing over there!

Fran is working his magic.

But here's the catch...

To keep the mojority of these kids commited, he will need to show progression on the Field from the rest of the team & their future teammates....

That could mean a more open playbook & a more agressive defense....

or...aren't most of the early commits OL & defensive players?

We could see an even greater committment to the running game (to Loftin's liking) and yes, a more agressive defense...

I don't know how much more of a commitment to the run we can have when the running game has been in the Top 10 the last 2 years....

To become that elite team we all want & crave we need to pass just a bit more & or if we do not increase the number of throws, stretch the field more & get better pass protection with the attempts we take...

Without a passing game to keep folks honest, we will remain 2nd fiddle for the most part when it comes to the Big Bowl Games...

All I can say is this...especially to those that don't follow recruiting religiously...remember right now how good you feel about the commits that Fran has for the '08 class. Because I can guarantee you that when Rivals comes out with their rankings for the '07 seniors, Aggies are going to be bitching about Fran not being able to recruit, t.u. outrecruiting us, etc. because the guys that should've been 4 star are going to be 3 stars & so on.

:rep: for that....

Well it's funny you said something about stars Dustin, b/c i was gonna see if ya'll could enlighten me about a different commit we already have. I get these e-mails from scout.com or something somehow that say when we get a new commit and they have dravanti(spelling?) johnson listed as a 2 star and the guy ya'll were all talking about Damian Square possibly being the top LB in the state listed as a 1 star. I know stars don't mean anything right now supposedly b/c the new ratings haven't come out. So my question is, why do they have Johnson rated as a better prospect than Square if the consensus on here the other day was that Square is better? Or maybe i was just mis-understanding. Maybe somebodies got an answer

They are both commited to A&M so if one #1 & the other is #2, either way A&M is happy to have em both! :gig:

I wonder if the rivals.com folks are tu homers? Or homers of another anti-A&M group?

That's very true, we'll gladly welcome both of em with open arms. Is it pretty much understood that the two of them are the top lb's in the state for this next season?

The Staff followed up this "huge" recruit with a few more at their first Junior day of the year. Continuing to add to immediate need areas they offerred and recieved commitments from more offensive linemen in Leroy Chevalier from Yates, and Joe Villavisencio from Jacksonville.

If you look at the rankings on scout for all 2008 prospects, they are all 2 and 1 stars. None of them are really "rated" yet. Not till 2007's recuiting is over.

Exactly. We must be highly productive next year in the "W" column to keep these verbals and attract more talent.
