Could be any of the 5 schools listed... this will be tough one for anyone to guess..... if he signs with A&M... A&M will have that Top 25 class everyone keeps stressing about easily....

As one of the top uncommitted prospects left in the Lone Star State, Christian Scott (http://tamu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=45432) has had everybody guessing on where he might wind up committing. The majority of the speculation has focused on Texas, Oklahoma and LSU, with Texas A&M and Oklahoma State also being kicked around.
And for the latest scoop … it turns out Mack Brown won't be the only one giving a sales pitch on Monday. In fact, it sounds like Brown could practically cross paths with coaches from another in-state program, as Scott prepares to host an in-home visit from both Texas A&M and Texas.
Sources have indicated that Aggie coaches will be in Scott's home on Monday night at around 6 p.m., with Mack Brown slated to walk through Scott's door shortly after 7. No timeframe has been given for a final decision, but Scott has said in the past that he'll simply commit when it feels right. That could be Monday night, or this one could play out until National Signing Day.

Speaking of which... I wonder how Fran did this evening at Scott's house... this Fran's 2nd shot at talking with Scott, really talking with him... and with him holding out & not commiting to Mack so quickly after 3 visits from Mack, that keeps the door open for everyone who is after him.

That's what I was wondering -- this evening! I think he's already made up his mind.........

I have a question....it has been mentioned on this site that we only have 17 scholarships to give out, but I see we are now up to 18 and apparently still recruiting. Does this mean that we just tell some of our already verbally committed people "too bad?" or is there some loophole that lets us get more in or something?

I could be mistaken, but Fran could use a scholarship from next year to pick up a player this year....
I could be wrong but that is how it could work out... It's like a salary cap....
BUt I don't think you can go that far into the future....
Which is why some schools have 12, some have 28, some have 19... & so on.... I do know A&M is/should be under 20 ships for this year....
No more than 18 or 19.. I am thinking A&M has 1 more to total 18.... without dipping into next years ships..

Ahhh, okay, thanks. That would make sense.

Would that player HAVE to redshirt or something so that he actually didn't see the field until the year that his scholarship is actually for?

Maybe, maybe not... not sure of the details...
I would assume that since A&M Is known for red-shirting the majority of it's Freshmen to help them gain an extra year of experience, it wouldn't hurt A&M all that much...
but that could be a possiblity....

There are a few guys who may not get into school. Also, there are a couple of guys who may not be back with the team next year....grades, etc. And some of these kids enrolled at midterm so they could count for last year's class. You can count them for last year's class if you had 'ships left over, but you can't count them forward, Pum.

Actually I think every D1 school can award atleast 25 scolarships if they schoose to...if they don't they can roll them over to next year....thats my understanding...you never have less than 25...he just may be loading up for next years since our team is so young this year, so he just adresss a few areas and loads up next year.
That is what I was told.

Someone can do the reasearch on it & find out for sure (there is :rep: in it for you if you provide a legit link), but the bottom line is, you have to have 'ships available to give out. Keep in mind, you can only have 85 scholarship players on the roster. But I'm pretty sure you can't allow more than 25 in a year.

I think Dustin is right
85 overall limit
25 for one year
If you take less than 25 and somebody signs early (christmas time), they can count to last years class.

The 85 Limit is basically the salary cap equivalent....
But I do believe you can dip into future scholarships... which is why I think A&M is limited... I doubt that Fran would limit himself to this few number of scholarships or any coach for that matter, when more players who could contribute aren't going to be signed...

Pum, the reason we are signing so few this year is because there aren't scholarships available for any more kids.
