We may make jokes about men and their relationships with the women in their lives, but most of the men I know would lay down their lives to protect the loves of their life, that is mother, sister, wife and daughter. The order in which they come into our lives.

I have believed for sometime now that our country and the other westernized countries of the world are under attack, not because of our religion, not because of our political views or even our government's support of a certain country, but because of our treatment and respect for women. Women in the west are no longer chattels, but are now equals and partners. Not so very long ago this was not true even in this country, but fair minded and enlighten people can change.

The true reason why religious zealots in far away lands hate us, feel threaten by us and have come to kill us, is that they are afraid that they will lose control of the women in their countries, if western influence is not stopped. This influence has crept into their homes and they don't like it. They want to be left alone and the information age will not let them. This is the main reason why free people have died and will continue to die. The treatment of women is the true and fundamental difference in our cultures. They want to deny women their civil rights. They want to take the world backwards hundreds of years.

You only have to read what is happening in Iraq and the constitution they once proposed.

Basic jealousy of western economic success and the teachings that they will inherit the world while making nonbelievers second-class citizens have always been a problem.

Our treatment of women and the worldwide media access to this first hand (the Internet and satellite TV) has put the icing on the cake.
