Cole has already had visitors from Nebraska and Texas A&M this week and the Cole family is expecting another visit from Oklahoma State tomorrow night.

"Dennis Franchione (http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=89) and one of assistants was here tonight," said Cole's father William Sr. "It went well. I was kind of impressed. According to Coach Franchione, it's cornerback that they're recruiting him at and that's what William wants to play."

now don't get me wrong...I've never seen him play, but his times, strength and size are pretty low...and to be a four star on top of that?

I played corner in h.s. and ran a 4.6 40...about the same height weight and bench...i never got a sniff from a scout to play college ball....and he's a four star?

That said..If Fran wants him, i hope we get him

Note: I'm not claiming that I'm worthy to be compared to him...just that his numbers seem low.

Good. We need some defensive backs.

Cole is the type of guy that could make this class a Top 25 in any way shape or form & a guy who could push Gorrer, Peterson & Carpenter for serious playing time this coming season.

In that 5A state game he made Derrick Stephens look sick many times. Derrick Stephens folks is the best Linebacker in Texas. This kid can fly. He had us low at one point but I guess the in home vist paid off. He's a :rep: to Coach Fran.

I don't know about many times. There was one time he made Derrick whiff pretty bad...but Derrick also made a few good plays on him in the open field. He made Cy-falls D in general look like the JV team.

To an earlier point where I said I wanted him on one side and Arkeith on the other and Dustin agreed..I forgot about Jordon Pugh....he has to fit in there too some how...move one to safety and the other two at corner...that could be very scarey for teams to face the next few years.

Dustin00whoop

I think Pugh ends up at safety with Gregg & Dixon...with Japhus mixed in their too. Gorrer & Brown at CB next year.

Burnetaggie99
01-25-2007, 06:22 PM
Not knocking Derrick because the kid is 100% badass. I thought Cole would be good a WR but I guess not. Pugh is a true CB and don't know if it would be a smooth positon change. Brown can play anywhere because he has played some safety before but the kid plays Cb as well. Brown has the size we need at CB to man up on folks. Darnell and Van Malone has a tough job this coming spring when it comes to who's playing where.

PinetarAg
01-25-2007, 06:23 PM
I think pugh would be a better corner than Gorrer. Gorrer is too much of a liabilty to come up and hit someone. teams can run at him all day (ie ou). He is good and should see the field but having him out there on every down (mainly 1st and 2nd running downs) scares me

I think what A&M needs are CB's that don't have to come out at all.... every down CB's.... period.... Don't have to be 6'3 or 6'4 or anything, but able to man up & not get pushed around....

Gorrer's style of play reminds me of Terrance Newman when he was at KSU... Gorrer is not on TN's level of being a shut down CB, but they style's are similar & TN wasn't as physical at KSU as he is now....

I think while the coaches will have a tough decision to make this off-season, it's a tough decision I am glad they have... the good thing out of this, is that there are a ton of kids who can play the position which will make them all better by competing against each other & also, should one of them have a cold hand on any given Saturday, our Coaches have the luxury of swaping em out with someone just as athletic.

PinetarAg
01-26-2007, 09:20 AM
Gorrer style reminds me of Deion Sanders....not in talent, not even close. But Deion was scared to come up and hit some one and thats the impression I get from gorrer when he plays. He can cover though, but with only 2 linebackers players need to come up and play the run

I think Peterson might be a better fit for FS than CB. Make no mistake, he is a baller and belongs on the field, I just don't know if CB is his position.

Lord knows he can hit.... Some of the shots he laid on folks were awesome!

I think if Cole comes aboard. There will be moch more talent and Peterson will be left out. I know he has no quit in him and thats great, but you really need great talent in the secondary in D1 divisions. I've never been a big fan of Peterson, I know he is 100% effort and goes all out, but he just does not have the size, talent, or technique to be a starter in the big12

Pumchavas28
01-26-2007, 10:14 AM
he just does not have the size, talent, or technique to be a starter in the big12

size = very few CB's do with most WR's at 6'2, 6'3, 6'4 & sometimes at 6'6....

talent = that has yet to be seen, he started almost every game & did good for a Freshmen & was able to hold his own for most of the year except ttu & NU.

technique= that could come with time... not only from the coaches but the other DB's as well....

I meant a combo of all of those. Usually if players are lacking in some areas they make up for it in others. Like size I know CB aren't 6'3" but they can make up for it in technique or skill.

Everything you wrote is lets wait and see he is learning and evolving, and I agree with that. I think there are 3 cornerbacks better than him on the team now in Pugh, Gorrer, and Brown that will not take as long to develope. If Cole comes that makes 4. I think at saftey we have players who are as good as him that already know the position.

I'm not saying the kid isn't good i just think we have 3 possibly 4 better corners and the best players should be put on the field. Next season is the year not a time to give out pt and let kids get experience. Best players at each positon on the field period.

I agree with that... McGee a Junior... Veteran O'Line... D has studied under Darnell for a full year, J & Mike both legit RB's who could start for any team in the Big 12... Next year is a year that the best players should be on the field and more should be intrusted on them to make plays... IE more CB blitzes & or Safety Blitzes...

PinetarAg
01-26-2007, 10:45 AM
We rarely blitzed from safety because Darnell didn't trust the corners to lock down their WR by themsleves in man coverage. They would be put out on island with no help over the top. Another note speaking to petersons skill at the position.

Pumchavas28
01-26-2007, 10:49 AM
But like I said... with another year, if the best players are on the field & be it Peterson or not, blitzing more, could be benifitial, even from the CB spot.

After seeing this video, I'm damn glad that this guy went to Okie State. This is a pathetic display IMO. Not just with Cole, but this stuff is getting out of hand.

I would also like to know where he got the personalized #3 Okie State jersey that he is wearing at the end.

I would also like to know where he got the personalized #3 Okie State jersey that he is wearing at the end.

He ordered it from Chris' University Spirit in Stillwater late last week (I found out about the order on Saturday from a buddy of mine).

I do agree that these announcement shows push things too far. The very format leads to disrespecting other schools. Though I really don't feel that Cole was too disrespectful in general. I do think they could have done something a bit classier than tossing the caps out of the way, but that is the way a lot of those announcements go. Who knows why he wasn't interested in aTm, but at least he didn't waste people's time.
