True Texans and the Stikas are "secret socities" at A&M that if you stay in northside dorms and talk to the right people, you find out about.

I didn't know they had a name, but a lot of guys in Aston last year drank Big Red and said stuff that didn't make sense. When asked about it, they had some riddle about a statue on campus that if you figured out you were in.

Supposedly also "ran" bonfire through the influence of its members.
I doubt that admittance is as easy as knowing that Earl Rudder's ring is on his right hand, and I doubt people "inside" talk that openly about it; but then again, how come everyone at A&M knows about something that is so "secret"?
From what I have heard there was alot of talk about the Stikas in the mid 90's in the op-ed section of the Batt due to some "incidents" on campus; but the Batt's online database doesn't go that far back...

Some guy ratted some of them out to the Batt back in the early 90's I think. They burned his boots on the Quad. Or so I've heard.
A buddy of mine from C-2 (c/o '98), was solicited to join the stickers / stikas / whatever. He chose not to attend the introductory meeting.
i had always heard that the stikas were around way before the swastika was used as a nazi symbol, and way before a&m was integrated. meaning, the stikas had nothing to do with nazis, white supremacy, racism, etc. i had also heard it was a literary society, or some such.
During the session 1904-1905, the first of the A. and M. dancing clubs, the Kala Kinasis, which meant "graceful motion," was organized by a group of party-loving youngsters "to foster fraternal spirit" and for the purpose of giving "Germans" and hops. But inevitably this club and such other dancing clubs as the Swastikas and True Texans came to amount more or less to fraternities and social cliques.

No, that's not what we are saying at all. Everyone knows that Homer screwed up the StoneCUTTERS (not masons) when he took over by having the monkey's reinact the cival war. The real secret society that runs A&M (as well as everything else) is the No Homers. :)

They've been around for a very long time & they have been called the Stikas for as long as most people can remember. So unless your cousin is class of 1909 or something I seriously doubt that they were called the sticks when he heard about them. I'm not trying to argue little stuff here. I'm just saying that he could quite possibly be confused.

Thats the whole question? It seems that everyone knows of their existence, but little information can be obtained about them. Its really crazy how quiet things have remained about them even as the University has grown so much in enrollment.

Yeah I can't believe someone would create a secret society just for the purpose of getting together with a small group of people and drinking beer. You can do that with a frat, a dorm, a group of friends etc.
These secret societies have to control something even if it's nothing more than controlling the mystery that surronds them.
Someone said that one of the groups controlled Bonfire. It would stand to reason then that some of the members would be red pots and possibly other bonfire leaders. But what is there to control about Bonfire? Other than times, places, and locations there's not much to Bonfire. It's not like your going to take over the world.
To me it would have to be a small group of highly educated or socially well connected people. They become a member of a secret society for the purpose of making connections to other wealthy well connected people. Basically networking. Once their time at A&M is done these connections pay off in the real world in terms of good jobs, elected offices, etc.

Well, the down side to this secret organization is that the name came from Swastika. We really have little proof that they even exist, much less that is where the name actually came from but we all know that Urban Legends & rumors hang around that campus like crazy. Point is, if it is "Stika" pronounced like the s-t-i-k-a in swastika, it really doesn't sound like sticks.
SA quoted a post that they had nothing to do with Swastika & then another post says they are actually the "sticklers".

I may have over exaggerated, but I've heard of people getting accused of sexual harassment just because they are talking about sex related topics, and if it makes a chick who is near the conversation uncomfortable/she doesn't want to hear it, she can say she was harassed. Basically you don't have to directly "harass" someone to be accused of it.

I was privileged enough to take a Harassment training course when i worked in California. We were informed there that, looking at a female with "elevator eyes" was sexual harassment if she felt as though it was. The definition of sexual harassment is so broad that anything said can be construed as harassment. My favorite part of the seminar was where they said that the business only has to determine that you "probably did it" in order to fire you under the law.
