View Full Version : Goodson Predictions??

I think we end up with him. SC is going to be tough, but I think its too far from home. Stoops has been making a great run at him & PaperClip U is going to be tough to beat. OSU shouldn't be a factor unless they are continuing Lie$ Mile$' old ways. Be good to us, Goodson!!

I'm going to predict us, but it will be close with usc. I think AD being at OU, albeit not for 4 yrs affects his decision. OSU, lots of uncertainty with the coaching staff. Straight up between us and USC, Reggie Bush might come into the equation, but what is he now a junior. Already having Cooper might also affect his choice, but I'll still say we get him. :gig:

I'm going to predict the Ags too. If you click on "read more" on the front page, you can see the Pros/Cons I've identified from each school (all inferences, not based on much research), but they're interesting. Here's the pros/cons from the front:
Here's Aggiefans.com breakdown of the schools he's interested, and their individual pros/cons:

USC
Pros: Defending National Champions Great coach, Pete Carroll Good offense for a RB (see Reggie Bush, Lindell White) Goodson likes to compare himself to Bush Southern California -- that's a draw

Cons: Defending National Champions means they have no problem recruiting great players After Bush leaves, he still has to wait behind White who's already in the Heisman talk Leaves home state of Texas (only school outside of Texas/Oklahoma)

Oklahoma
Pros: Oklahoma has been in the National Championship picture almost every year in the last 5 years Bob Stoops is like a snake charmer and a good recruiter By the time he graduates and redshirts his first year, Adrian Peterson will leave early for the NFL, leaving the starting spot for him

Cons: He'd be playing in Oklahoma If AD gets hurt or has to stick around for his Senior season, he'll lose out on playing time OU may be on the decline, he may have missed out on the "Golden Years"

Oklahoma State
Pros: He'd be a star at RB (like AD is at Oklahoma) Oklahoma Coach Gundy has promised to open up the offensive playbook, may be enticing to him

Cons He'd be playing in Oklahoma Gundy is unproven at OSU, the playbook may fail miserably in Big XII OSU has consistenly been a middle of the pack team. Not sure they can compete for the Big XII title in the next 4 years.

Texas A&M
Pros: Kyle Field is one of the greatest home field advantage stadiums in the Nation Texas A&M showed they can get better under Coach Fran Lack of "star" RB opens the door for him to start Texas A&M keeps him close to home if he decides to stay in Texas

Cons: Texas A&M is consistently viewed as fighting for 3rd behind Texas and OU Amount of touches he can expect is hard to figure in Fran's offense because of Lewis' injury last season College Station is not a great draw when compared to Southern Cal (but it probably beats Norman and Stillwater)

With that being said, USC has too much talent and is just too far away. OSU is too much of a question mark with their Gundyball...and so basically, it's between us and OU. Hopefully, he's got Texas pride and wants to stay in-state.

I say the earlier he picks, the less likely it's us. If he picks on the 10th I think he goes USC. Kids think their the best. I don't think the depth chart plays a huge role.

Just read that he would be deciding on Sunday and that Channel 2 in Houston would be broadcasting it. Is that true? If so you H-towner's better record it and post it online! :gig:

<<Texas A&M is consistently viewed as fighting for 3rd behind Texas and OU>>

Only having to beat Baylor, ISU, KU, TT, Nebraska, Missouri, or KSU for that 3rd Place spot!

I bet that is the biggest selling point for the Aggy's. Can you imagine having a chance for a consistent 3rd Place finish? Who could have dreamed of that opportunity?

Vlyrock

Nice attempt to flame....

Consistently viewed as...and consistently doing - are two different things.

Remember, tu is consistently viewed as chokers and losers to OU. I still like how you are trying to trash talk, yet he's not even considering your "superior" team.

Yep sure did only lost to Baylor by 1!

Would rather lose just one game than be looking like your beloved Aggy's. Ah yes the ultimate he's not even considering UT post. Do you realize UT was his favorite right until the time Mack Brown accepted the commitments from his 3 commits sending Michael Goodson notice that we're full at the running back position. I believe he was told you may come, but as a receiver. He is an outstanding young man, but he is too much of a talent to be an Aggy!

So Express your saying our selling Point is come to A&M for third place and your selling point is come to tu for 2nd Place. Wow thats a big difference. No way that could ever change.

Vlyrock
07-06-2005, 04:27 PM
Well, given your logic used above, I guess tu improved too, they only lost to Oklahoma by 12 instead of 48+. Fran won more games last year than you expected or any person in the media -- so don't try to downplay that point.

I'm also glad you'd rather lose only one game. That means you've been happy the last 4-5 years because you do that about every year.

And sorry, if Mack Brown turned Goodson away at RB, then tu is in trouble. None of the 3 running backs Brown got are rated as highly as Goodson. Vondrell McGee isn't even ranked at his position. Derke Robinson is better, ranked #19 by Scout...and the best the Horns got Emmanuel Moody is #9.

Tell me again, why Mack would put the #5 running back at WR? Oh, that's right...because he's good at getting them to tu...but what he does with them when he gets all that talent is ridiculous. Mack's a recruiter, not a coach.

Come on guys, Express knows what is going on. Mack never loses out on a guy, he just decides he doesn't want them before they decide they don't want him. Look at 'Tellus & Perlioux last year. ;)

Your logic makes no sense, Express. Goodson won't go to A&M because he is too good. Sounds like what everyone said about Antoine Wright, Reggie McNeal, Martellus Bennett, etc.

I don't remember ever saying we didn't want Goodson. I assure you we had interest in him as he did in us. Unfortunately the others committed when they did thus far closing out available ships at the RB position. Anyone saying UT didn't offer is an IDIOT!

BTW, you may want to change that update on the front page. OU is not a finalist...replace 'em with LSU!

Vlyrock

I heard LSU was a finalist until they kicked his cousin/good friend off the basketball team. He had a visit to OU last week and said they were still in the mix.

Thats fine....last I saw, just before I posted that, LSU was the 4th finalist. Either way, it won't be either one of them.

I am curious to see how Miles does recruiting wise when they go 9-2, 8-3 and have 2005 looked upon as a disappointment

Pokes28

Of course I think Goodson has a good shot going to OSU, but I have my orange colored glasses on. He'd be another in a nice list of RBs from OSU.

I look at it like this: Goodson could be the star recruit for Gundy. If he gets him, that could send a signal that he knows how to get the players and it very easily could cause a nice flow of talent to Stillwater. Losing out on Goodson may actually hurt OSU for the same reason. I don't believe people that say things like "well if the top player has Team A on his final list then that helps recruiting too." I don't think kids really look at who finished 2nd or 3rd, only who is getting the talent.

As for Miles at LSU, I have no clue how that is going to work out. Miles is one heck of a coach, but he's a control freak on the offensive side of the ball. His recruiting is what floors me. He's going after the exact same kids he was going after at OSU. OSU never has been one to go after all the 5 star kids, there hopes are to get one more 4 or 5 star kid than the year before. But LSU is a school that can get a ton of 4 and 5 star kids. Yet look at the list of kids LSU is in on and they almost all have OSU on there too. I love what Miles did for OSU football. But I think if he ends up with the talent pool that he had at OSU, he'll end up being too far down for the cajuns to be happy.
