I happened across Man vs Wild on the discovery channel. It's this guy that survives different areas. Today he's in Alaska and he's out there with basically nothing. He made a spear out of a stick and speared a salmon. He then grabs it by the gills and the back and just starts eating it raw right out of the river... it was crazy

I saw that. Crazy. Guts were spewing out as he took a bite.

that reminds me of the looks on the faces on some of these chubby folks as they are heading into krispy kreme to get their fix, here in san antonio. ;)

That dude is serious.... He can survive anywhere... although I don't remember if he has tried to survive in a desert... he might have, but some of the things he does is pretty cool.

I think he did and he didn't make it out on his own.

I would think a Desert would be tough for even him... In a forest or on a mountain or whatever would be easier to survive...

I can't believe he willingly jumped into that freezing water like that.

That's weak, I would of caught the fish with my bare hands. I wonder if he got Marine SERE Training. I'd like to see how he does at 29 palms.

I know that was crazy... I wonder if they made that boat get a hole so he'd do that

I don't think that is even possible from a tiny hole in ice into freezing water.

I was just kidding I would of used a stick like he did or if I had My K - Bar. I bet his traning is close to what we Recon Marines had to do for our Training. We had to do SERE school, Mountain Warefare Training, Combat Desert Training, and Marine Corps Water Survival Training.

good because I was laughing my arse off...

Thinking, man he really is (or thinks he is) Jack Bauer...
...but this would be more like Grizzly Adams...or maybe Rambo would be the best...yeah, Rambo.

I knew that would be funny thats why I said that. If it were trout in a stream or something then I might have a chance.

Well if a Baylor football player can dive in a river and come up with a largemouth bass, then I would hope that you would be able to do the same.

Hedoes do the desert survival thing, one of the clips I saw had him taking a leak on his t-shirt and then wrapping it around his head and face to keep cool.

He was trained in the british special forces until he got seriously injured when his parachute didn't open if I remember correctly.

Yeah I heard about something like that.... Dude is hard core.... but there is only so much even he can take.... but I give him huge props.....

Anyone willing to wrap piss around their head to stay alive, is better than me.

I still have SA on ignore, but from the other post I assume y'all are talking about Bear Grylls & Man vs. Wild. That is a bad ass show. I can't believe he sunk that boat in a freezing river. Its one thing to do that kind of stuff because you are forced to, but you have to be one crazy dude to do it just for a television show.

He said the ice made it start leaking but I bet they sunk it just for television and I don't think it was a river it was the arctic ocean

P-ville, if you are responding to more of SA's nonsense, let me clarify. He took the boat up into a tributary in an effort to find civilization. The guy is on "ignore" & I still have to correct his mistakes.

I was just being a smartass. I saw the show and know what happened.

It was not into a tributary he was trying to cross an "inlet" to a gravel bar where he thought cruise ships might go.... when have you heard of a cruise ship going into a tributary.

*someone quote this so dustin can read it

Just b/c it entertains me when Dustin and SA fight, I'll quote it. :)

Dustin, see SA's quote above challenging your post about it being an inlet.

My God...its like playing cards with my brother's kids with this guy. Rewatch the show, homes! You clearly have two different parts of the show confused.

You are clearly thinking about how he followed the river to the arctic ocean (but there wasn't a boat there). After getting to the ocean he started a fire and but a low pressure was keeping the smoke down. He also wrapped muscles in seaweed to steam them. He then headed down the "coastline" found a deserted cabin and then the boat. He talked about how far it would take to get to where he wanted to go because the inlet was so deep into the mainland but the boat helped him cross it.

Quoting so that Dustin can see this and fire back. :)

Man, I don't think two more stubborn people exist on this planet. At least it makes it fun for the rest of us. Can you imagine if Dustin and SA went to Elementary school together? They'd be beating each other up on the playground every day.

I'm a mild mannered guy with serious rage problems. I don't fight because I'm afraid that I'll hurt someone because I won't be able to stop.
