There are now only four teams that I believe still have a chance to play in the MNC game against tOSU (who clinched their spot today).
Here's how I see it now:
USC - They need to beat Notre Dame and UCLA. I think that's all they'll need.
Florida - They need to beat Florida State and Arkansas, and they need a USC loss.
Arkansas - They need to beat LSU and Florida, and they need a USC loss.
Michigan - they need LSU to beat Arkansas, and then Arkansas to beat Florida in the SEC CCG. Then they need a USC loss.

I think if it comes down to those teams it has to be USC.
Arkansas seems to be right out. You just can't get beat 50-14 on your home field.
As for Florida, I'm just not that sold on the SEC right now.
So if it comes down to Michigan and USC, as much as it pains me to pick against Michigan, I think it goes to USC.
They played Arkansas, Nebraska and will play ND in their out of conference. The Pac-10 isn't great, but really neither is the Big 10. Basically in conference Michigan and USC will have each beaten one decent team (Wisconsin/Cal). I think it comes down to OOC, and you've got to give credit to USC for their scheduling. They didn't duck anyone and they beat the daylights out of Arkansas and thumped NU pretty good.
Plus, it sucks for Michigan, but they won't have even won their conference. That should pretty much do it. If you really believe in some kind of playoff (and most poll voters do), then that's what that game was today--a playoff. And Michigan lost it.

If there was a rematch and Michigan won, what exactly would that prove?
tOSU and Mich would both have one lose...to each other. Then, the BCS computers would explode trying to figure out who to crown the National Champs.

You forgot to include Norte Dame. If they beat USC, they will get a shot as well.

Except Mich wiped the field with Notre Dame.

But a win a USC could still put them in the number 2 spot. It's better to lose early than it is to lose late.

Agreed. Not only did they lose, they lost bad. If ND beats USC then that should strenthen Michigan chances for the rematch. Which would suck. I think Michigan is the 2nd best team in the nation but they lost thier chance yesterday. That was pretty much the national championship game.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't this situation occur in 2000 when Oklahoma was the only undefeated team and the other spot in the national championship game was between Florida St. and Miami, both of which were 1 loss teams. And even though Miami beat Florida St., FSU still got the bid to the game. I think it comes down to who has gone the longest without a defeat, so Norte Dame may get in over Michigan.

the thing is Michigan played the team the closest all season.....and if the field were in better shape it might have been a different game.
Shouldn't the best 2 teams play??? Clearly that is Mich and OSU.
I'm not sold on USC (lost to unranked team) and ND lost to Mich AT HOME (not only lost got their a** kicked)...if Michigam does not get it...it should be the winner of the of the SEC game which I think will be Ark......but I still think Michigan should be there becuase they are one of the best two teams

the AP does not have to go along with the BCS so there can still be a split NC....so if michigan won the second game...they could still both get it (hypothetically)

I wish the Ags were in this discussion.
Aside from that though, this is going to be another blemish on the BCS formula. My head hurts just thinking about the different combinations. All I know is that it is going to be tSOU vs. somone.

If Notre Dame beats USC, LSU beats Arkansas, and Arkansas beats Florida....It could get really interesting. I think that in that situation it would come down to Michigan and ND, but I think Michigan gets the nod in computer rankings.
